What a successful start to Big 12 Conference Play! We won BOTH of the first two series---not 0 or 1 of them---but we won BOTH of them!

After we win the KSU series, on their home turf, we'll be 3-0 in series victories in the mighty Big 12.

Another good start for Coach Pierce and the Texas Longhorns!

 

Pierce is the worst pitching coach this university has ever seen. There is no sunshine pumping that can fix this.

 

I kept reading that we aren't playing anybody in conference worth a damn but we seem to keep losing to them. I don't think we make the post season this year.

 

The Pierce t-shirts and coffee cups are going on sale, 1/2 off.

I'll be taking orders for Pierce beach towels. Better get one before Summer gets here.

 

Our conference winning percentage is the same as it was this time last year, and better than it was this time in 2022. IDK what all the panic is about.

 

Pierce plays a lot of players in the season to see who plays in the postseason. It’s likely that more of these players were not as ready to play this year vs past years. Let’s hope the improvement during the season is better than past years. Before the season, I think the consensus was that the team was young but talented.

Another good job this year by Coach Pierce.

1. We won all but 1 conference series.
2. We'll make the NCAA tournament again.
3. Has the team peaking at the right time.
4. Has developed our most formidable batting lineup in memory.

 

And now that we've swept Kansas and won all but 1 of our conference series, you can all jump on the bandwagon. Better hurry, it's heading to Omaha, with a stop in Arlington, then probably 2 awful places tbd.

 

And we BEAT THEM ALL!!!!!!!

 

Sorry, Chop, but I'm still skeptical. Don't see us getting out of a regional this year, probably going 2-2 or something like that. We just haven't been consistent enough to make me confident. Sure hope I can come back and eat crow!

 

If I was a one seed, we’d be the last two seed I’d want to end up in my regional. This team can score 10 runs in any given game.

 

It wouldn’t surprise me to reach the CWS this year to even out the **** job last year at Palo Alto.

 

Hate to rain on the parade, but…yes, they’ve righted the ship and continue to battle with the bats, so I give them much credit for that. I love this team for its grit and determination. Very encouraging pitching performances this weekend, with a couple of exceptions. I was very happy to see Hurley & LBJ pitch so well in their last (probably) starts at DFF, and Duplantier in relief. All that doesn’t erase the fact that they didn't sweep a series until the last one of the season (and needed 9th inning heroics twice to do that), finished third in a conference that wasn’t great and are not one of 16 regional hosts (barring some craziness) for the second year in a row and, well UT-RGV. I agree that no #1 seed should want Texas to come to its regional. This team can beat any team in the playoffs the way they're playing right now. That's the great thing about baseball, it's decided on the field. I just wish it were being decided on our field.

 

I definitely agree with this.

 

It really does come down to the fact that Texas baseball this year is a team that had the talent to be a 40+ game winner, be hosting a regional and maybe even be a national seed but instead has been a team that underachieved and didn’t start playing to its talent level until too late. So now if they are going to get it done, they will have to get it done on someone else’s field. I will be cheering them on wherever they go but I too would have preferred they had the chance to get it done at the Disch.

 

Not only that, LBJ could pitch like he did in Miami last year (lets hope we get a regional and super in his home state right?).

Hurley could pitch like he did Thursday and we still have Grubbs and Ace with Dup and Gage to close.

It's still possible and i still have hope in this team.

 

It's fantastic the way Coach Pierce developed Max Belyeu into the Big 12 Player of the Year!

Pitching has been the issue the last few years.

Game 1 of the Regional is a good test of coaching. Coach Pierce had the Horns READY TO GO for the victory in Game 1.

The prices are all back up to the original prices + a 25% inflation kicker.

 

Game 2 of the Regional demonstrated the importance of actually hosting. By hook or by crook, this should be the coach’s primary goal of the regular season (and part of making that happen is winning those “meaningless” midweek games, like aggy did theirs). You can’t overstate the importance of home field advantage in playoff games.

 

Our Coach had our team inspired and we gave a gutsy performance.

Now we've got to bounce back and trod the uphill climb.

 

Great job by Coach Pierce in having LBJ ready to go for the Regionals.

 

And great job by Coach Pierce in developing LBJ.
And in developing Boehm.

Boehm was a Junior College journeyman with mediocre stats before this year.

Coach Pierce has developed Boehm into a stud on the mound.

Now that's some great player development by Coach Pierce!!!
