By the way, I am very happy for him to have a good year. A credit to his character (and his parents) for sticking with it.

    Yeah, what a bounce back!

Persistence. He also re-invented himself, replacing his (4-seamer) fastball with a very solid and moving cutter as his primary pitch. Result---> very few of those multi-run homers and grand slams. Fewer big innings allowed.

I don't know if he'll ever make the majors, but he might ought to give it a try. There's plenty of need for guys who can come in for 1-2 innings and get the team out of trouble. His breaking stuff really breaks well. I saw him throw one pitch Tuesday night that appeared to defy the laws of physics. He has control over it this year, along with his cutter.

UCF, which beat mighty Cincinnati, the Longhorn-killer, has scored 4 runs to even the score with Okie State in the top of the 2nd. Whaddya mean you’re not watching, are you bitter that Pierce couldn’t even get us past our first two lame opponents? :smile1:

I don't blame anyone for not watching, don’t understand why they even play any games after Texas is eliminated, no one cares. (The empty cavern known as Globe Life Field proves I’m right.) Think I’ll watch some old reruns of something or other now…

    give,

I have reverted to paying NFHS to watch HS playoffs. There have been some really good plays, enthusiastic players & fans. I think it costs me about $6 a month and I can pick which games anywhere in the state that I might find interesting. Tonight's Memorial vs Pearland was a close game. I have watched Stratford, PNG, Westlake, among others.

Some of those were compliments of Starbucks, which provided free internet and electricity during my multiple day outage.

No, they got great pitching from their starter with a 2-0 lead, blew it to go down 4-2, and rallied to 4-3, and died with a man on third. They play again tonite at 7. All games at Third Ward.

Oklahoma was down 6-0 to the chickenhawks, but scored 5 runs in the 5th inning to make it a 6-5 ballgame. It appears the land thieves are taking this tournament seriously and may be trying to actually win it, what an interesting and novel approach. Winning, as Vince Lombardi famously said, is a habit.

Your question, mchammer, made me wonder what our guys are actually doing right now. Did the team just head back to Austin Thursday morning? Are they practicing today? Just hanging out? Now I’m curious…

Sooners win it 8-6 with a walk-off 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th, will be playing in the championship game tomorrow night against the winner of tonight's midnight contest between somebody and somebody...
