I wonder if the extensive coverage of Wright's anti semitic rants made it somehow seem acceptable to bash Jews?

From Roger Simon's Blog but i can't copy the link for some reason
"Daphna Ziman, a Jewish philanthropist, was attending an event Monday night during which she was honored with the Tom Bradley award by Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity for her work with at-risk African-American children.

Following Ms. Ziman’s speech, the keynote speaker — Reverend Eric Lee of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference — said the following, according to Ms. Ziman herself:

“He began his speech by thanking Jesus for Obama, who is going to be the leader of the world. He continued by referring to other leaders Like Dr. King, being that this was the moment of celebrating Dr. King’s spirit on the anniversary of his death, and Malcolm X.
It was right after the mention of Malcolm X that he looked right at me and started talking about the African American children who are suffering because of the JEWS that have featured them as rapists and murderers. He spoke of a Jewish Rabbi, and then corrected himself to say “What other kind of Rabbis are there, but JEWS”. He told how this Rabbi came to him to say that he would like to bring the AA community and the Jewish community together. ” NO, NO, NO,!!!!” he shouted into the crowd, we are not going to come together. “The Jews have made money on us in the music business and we are the entertainers, and they are economically enslaving us”
He continued as to how now the salvation has come and the gates have open for African Americans to come together behind Barack Obama, because now is the time to show them.(meaning the jews).
He continued to speak about ‘ White supremecy’ vs the talents and visionaries in the core of African Americans. He demeaned being given freedom, by saying “To what?” to a country that kills women and children.
I could no longer be polite and sit in front of the crowd, so I walked out.
Members of the fraternity ran after me as did my staff, I was not able to contain my tears and I cried.”

He is entitled to his opinion but it is pretty meanspirited to blast at Jews during a ceremony honoring a Jew for her work to help African children

What we're having is a one-way conversation about race. I guess the real question is, has the alleged new found freedom to talk about race made it acceptable for some blacks to go on racist rants?

What exactly did Wright say that bashed Jews? I know he made some anti-Israel statements, but I hadn't heard any Jew-bashing statements specifically.

If after listening and reading the anti semitic rants by Wright all over the media 2-3 weeks ago you are sincerely asking that there isn't anything I can say that will enlighten you
    .
You can answer this for me. Before Wright when was the last time such hate jews speeches were given by memebers of the clergy?

He is like a crazy uncle. And you should have heard what Barack white grandmother said.

There are crazy conspiratorial minded/racists/blathering idiots all over this country.

Some of them support Barack Obama.

Some of them support Hillary Clinton.

Some of them support John McCain.

Some of them support the destruction of Xenu and his Gallactic Confederation.

The kooks will be flushed out of the dark corners and their words/beliefs will be roundly judged for what they are.

I'm looking forward to Obama leading "a national conversation on race". I hope he thinks it's important enough to give it significant time between now and November. I'll have a lot less interest in his leadership on the topic after November.

How is this guy related to Wright? Is it because they are both black?

What Wright said was mostly anti-Israel. What this guy says is anti-semitic, that is if I can really take your posting of his speech as factual. They are two different people, however, no matter how you try to slice it.

I am sincerely asking because your post fails at simple logic. There is nothing to suggest that Jeremiah Wright has made it okay to bash Jews as you question. Bigotry, especially of the anti-Semitic variety has had a foothold in the Black church and certain factions of Black dominated civil-rights groups for decades now. More than likely, Eric Lee is a product of that line of thinking and has been for a great number of years. I fail to see how one should automatically assume that Jeremiah Wright's speeches embolden him to say what he said.

To answer your question; I've certainly heard anti-Semitic remarks (in addition to homophobic remarks) from Black clergy and so-called other Black leaders before Wright ever came to the forefront. Not frequently, but it has happened. How many Black events or other similar gatherings have you gone to, to be able to draw an accurate conclusion on whether these things happened before Wright? You confuse what is made widely known with what actually happens.

    What a jerk.

All politics aside, that was an incredibly mean-spirited and hateful thing to do to someone who was trying to do some good in the black community.... No good deed goes unpunished, I suppose.

But, as has been noted, there are crazies in every group.

I would like the proof to these purported anti-semitic remarks by Wright.

Also, has anyone here actually read/watched either of the Wright sermons from which an entire nation has born an opinion. They're inflammatory, but they're not racist. In fact, they decry racism. But I guess it's easier to let Fox News tell you how to think rather than doing it by yourself.

you answered it when you pointed out that many black leaders and clergy have spoken in such a manner before.
I had not heard them nor was I aware this attitude was so prevalent.
You explained it well. Now I understand this is not a new attitude and therefore Wright getting so much press for his remarks has nothing to do with this Eric Lee.
Mr lee certainly should have chosen a better venue.

I don't think this has anything to do w/ Wright but, if it went down like the story says, Eric Lee is a total douche bag.
