ESPN ranked Vince Young's performance against USC as the best ever performance in a BSC game, with his performance against Meechigan coming in at #3. ESPN also ranked the UT-USC game as the best ever BCS game and UT-Meechigan as #4. Check it out on the front page of espn.com right now. Is it possible to get Vince back?
At first glance, I thought the thread title said #183. I thought we were going to have a Burnt Orange Posse headed for Bristol.
ESPN says that UT was the best team in the best BCS bowl and that we had the best player in the top game. Maybe some people on here can now stoping whining about ESPN not giving UT enough credit. Nah. that is too much to ask.
So far, they have USC blowing out Ceasar's army in Gaul, and edging out the Germans at Normandy. Tommorrow is Pete Carroll against Napolean. Gotta go with Pete on that matchup.
The USC game had a lot of "bests". Best game ever. Best performance ever. And keep in mind Vince did all of that against USC, which was a great team. Two heavyweights duking it out for the title in the granddaddy. It really doesn't get any better, seriously. Even people without a dog in the contest will tell you that.
I still get emotional thinking about that game... its the first time I really lost faith in Vince.. only for half a second, but it happened. Then I regained my composure.. after we cut it to 5 I just said "get him the ball one more time." Ive never gone so nuts in my life. it was great.
i remember right when USC went up by 12 and they were cutting to commercial i turned to my mom and sister and said, "i wonder how he's gonna pull this one off..." i never doubted for a moment that he wouldn't. it was just a question as how? he's Vince Young damn'it!
I just had to listen again to the call of the last touchdown on my pen. It always gives me chills - I don't think I will ever get tired of hearing it.
I like the line about the USC as the greatest team ever talk then "...they weren't even the best team on the field that night...". FINALLY, people are seeing the truth. The great thing about that game is it will be mentioned 100 years from now. VY's performance will be compared to endlessly. It IS the gold standard now.
Count me as one who thought the Boise St victory over OU in overtime more impressive than Pat White, but whatever.
