1 is a Texas commit. Another is a strong lean towards Texas. Not bad Rick... keep up the recruiting magic.

FWIW, Wall's AAU coach was hired by Baylor, per Rivals.

I hate the "we'll give you a job if your best player comes to our school" bit.

For the #1 player in the country by some accounts, that's a really odd list of schools "mentioned most". Baylor, Okie Lite and Oregon??? And he's from North Carolina. WTF?

Kansas and Memphis were in consideration, too.

package deal or not, we need a pg in this class and we need talent, so the #1 player sounds pretty good to me as long as its legal.

I think Trilli was the JC coach, but it's the same theory.

Larry Brown hired Ed Manning to get Danny to Kansas.
Mario Chalmers's dad was hired as director of basketball operations at KU, sealing that deal.
Bob Huggins hired Michael Beasley's AAU coach to get him away from Charlotte.

Danny Manning, Mario Chalmers, Michael Beasley...Panama Myers, Locksley Collie. Our guys are not quite on the level of those others.

I know it was a source of amusement to the oSu contingent when Capel signed Blake Griffin b/c they were just positive Blake's dad was the proverbial deal sealer. As it turns out, Blake's dad is not -- and never has been -- an OU employee.

The beautiful irony in that was their belief that John Wall was a lock to sign with Travis Ford. I guess they weren't willing to pay his coach enough.
