If the guy is on our sidelines he is obviously there with the blessing of this program. You dont invite guests into your home and boo them. We aren't OU.
As a couple of posters have pointed out that the booing was because of the Mizzou mascot/cheerleaders doing pushups after they finally scored a touchdown. Obviously that wasn't until the second half It's too bad they happened to show Jeter on Godzillatron at that exact time. I felt that the booing was unfortunate and inappropriate, and I'm certainly not a Jeter or Yankees fan.
Just because you're not a yankees fan doesn't lump you in as a red sox fan. Where I was sitting, there was more laughter than boos, as well as comments such as "how's the off season jeter?" Also, how can you be so sure they weren't saying "boo-urns"
As long as Jeter plays for the Yankees he will and should be booed if he is anywhere in the state of Texas. Do you really not know how much hatred there is for the Yankees? You really think that if someone boos a Yankee they are a BoSox fan? lol. You must not follow baseball at all. The Yankees are perhaps the most loved and most hated team in professional sports.
Many of you are missing the point. If you are at a Yankees-Red Sox game, you boo Jeter, but you shouldn't at a UT game. Celebrities add some bling to our program. It is a good thing to have Bill Murray drop by practice, or Matthew McConnaghy hanging around. There were several articles and features about the celebrities surrounding the USC program prior to the Rose Bowl and comparing them to UT's celebrity fans. It's all in fun, but they add a little bit to the atmosphere, and recruits like a more star-studded city and program. It's all about the recruits.
I met Jeter on the sideline Saturday night, he was very gracious. I didn't realize he was with the chick from Friday Night Lights until later, and I watch that stupid show. For the record, he did have some burnt orange on. It was some Jordan brand gear that was beige and had some burnt orange on it.
I hate the Yankees more than anything, but I really don't understand the booing of Jeter. He was a guest of one of our own on our sideline and we pretty much bitched slapped him. As for as we know, he maybe a Longhorn fan when it comes to college football. It just didn't make sense.
i dont watch that show but she's supposed to play a high school cheerleader? and boo jeter, who cares. Alot of fans had been boozin all day so it could have been worse.
I don't know what was worse..people booing Jeter or the girl sitting beside me yell overrated during the game. Probably the overrated, but both were annoying.
Well, the ALCS was taking place at that exact moment and Jeter was on our sideline. I laughed. The overrated chant has to end. If you're #1, you should be winning.
