I want to make Mexican martinis in bulk and serve them out of a gatorade-type cooler for a party (classy I know). What's a good recipe? I like the ones that have fresh lime juice, orange juice and (obviously) tequila. Anyone experimented with the perfect proportions?

I spent a lot of time squeezing limes and trying to find the best margarita recipe not too long ago, and here's what I ended up with:

    Simply Limeade
    Paula's Texas Orange
Tequila - I like a decent quality 100% agave silver tequila

It's pretty easy to experiment with proportions, obviously, and find what you like, then just make 'em in bulk.

+ olive juice and a bunch of jalapeno-stuffed olives to make mexican martinis, I guess.

I'm guessing Simply Limeade is better than the syrupy canned concentrate limeade?

I like it better. It's essentially just water, sugar, and lime juice. No corn syrup.

    Makes two drinks....
    2 oz tequila
    1 1/2 oz Orange Liquor
    2 oz Sweet and Sour
    1oz Lime Juice
    2oz Orange Juice
    Splash of Sprite

Should give you the ratios you need.

    Fico,

I notice your recipe does not contain olive juice.

A mexican martini without olive juice is like chili with beans.

Your quality will be greatly effected by your math depending on your presentation. The problem with the dispensers is you have to chill the relatively high alcohol content, and in doing so you dillute, if you use the logical choice Ice. I would probably take a milk bottle and clean the heck out of it Inside AND outside and freeze in in the freezer. Then put the whole gallon (with the top on) into the igloo cooler to help chill but not dillute the mixture. Clearly you need to use some ice, but if you don't want the last of the batch horribly watered down you need to use a chilling source that will not dilute the mixture.

We will also oftentimes do frozen margaritas for larger parties. We do them ahead of time and put them in a bunch of gallon zip lock in the freezer.

    Using Distinguido Anejo tequila:
    2 oz. tequila
    1 1/2 oz. Citronage
Juice of half of a lime
1/4 to 1/2 oz olive juice (to taste)
2 oz Mr. and Mrs. T's Margarita mix
Splash of both oj and sprite if desired.

    Perfect every time.
