Just reported on Fox 4 News in Dallas...no details were released on the 3-team deal.

If it doesnt involve J-How or Dirk, I think the team gets better, but still not good enough.

Price of poker going down. Mavs get Marion for half of his salary last year; Kidd for third to half of last year. Sounds like sports is following the trend of the economy.

Mavs now with J-Ho, Terry and Marion as shooters (?) to go with Dirk, Kidd and the center position. Should maintain their competitve level at least.

Pretty impressive offseason for Dallas, especially if they end up with Gortat. Wondering another trade will be in the works...

I know a lot of Mavs fans that are concerned about Marion and J Ho playing together. They are both 3s. I don't see either coming off the bench either.

My guess is Howard will split some time at the 2 guard position. Terry's Sixth Man award illustrated that Terry is best coming off the bench. If Howard plays the 2 then maybe he won't catch as much flack for not taking it the hole as often (and maybe save some wear and tear on his ankles). He'd still have to improve his shooting though. The other problem is whether Howard has enough left in his ankles to guard quick 2 guards. Were this 2-3 years ago, I say no problem. Now? I don't know.

It's pretty easy to see Howard as the starting 2 and Marion the 3. After that, it's mix and match. Terry subs for Marion moving Howard to the 3. Marion subbing for Howard at the 3. Carlisle has lots of great options.

These additions aren't going to put the Mavs over the top, but swapping Stack, George, and Aggy for Marion, Buckner, Humphries, and Jawai makes the team better defensively, toughens its frontcourt, and raises its basketball IQ.

Is there any team in basketball that flips over it's roster like the Mavs? Seriously, they just traded 25% of their team from last year. This was more commonplace when Big Nellie was running the show but still....

No surprise with Mark Cuban at the helm (and unlimited dough to spend).

They didn't flip any guys that played a lot. This is a nice trade. Get Marion for basically nothing. I still don't think they will win a championship or anything, but you have to try and do what you can. This is about as good as it's going to get for them. SA is in basically the same position. You try and get better, but LA has all the advantages.

Not sure SA is in the same position. They dumped three thirty-somethings who are now marginal for two folks (Jefferson and McDyess) who have been All-Stars and can contribute both points and rebounds. One more big, and they can compete with the Lakers in any length series.

Based on Prodigy's reasoning, the mavs will be just fine if they sign Kareem. He made lots of all star games..

Mavs and Cavs are on the same sinking ship and instead of going for the life boat, both are just trying to steam back to port. For both teams the critical flaw in the ship's hull is the lack of a big-man center, or at least someone who plays like a big man in the C position. Instead of going for the obvious option, both teams try to replace twos and threes and split time between them and change guards and rotate guards and whatever. Go for a freakin big man. Cavs went with Shaq this year (it took long enough) which is probably enough of a stop gap from the bleeding in the center to get back to the division game or even the championship, but probably not enough to win it all. Shaq probably won't go the distance due to injury but hey he has proved me wrong before.

Mavs just won't face fact. They need a C. Someone who knows that they are expected to play C and will not try to be a power forward. Dallas doesn't need too many points from the paint (they get enough) they need defense in the middle. Also, not setllar D, just enough to slow down the big men who have killed them before.
