That we will get one of Hicks, White, Jeffcoat. If we get even one of those I think this may be the best class top to bottom we've signed. Hook'em
I believe we will get Jeffcoat and Hicks; White is long gone from our plans, IMO. And in two years, we'll be wondering how we could have possibly survived having such a low-quality defense back in 2009.
Bill, I also think that White is history. Once Cobbs said yes, the chance for White was reduced. He would be a great recruit to get and I would love to have him. But, he is gone IMHO.
Whatever - it's not like we are short on fantastic underclassmen receivers or anything. Go do your thing at OU, Darius. The Horns will just keep on truckin' and somehow try to make due without you.
Don't forget that Malcolm Williams and Dan Buckner are both sophs. Also, don't sleep on DJ Monroe. I gotta believe he ends up at WR once the herd thins a bit next year. I think we will be OK.
Speaking of Wide Receivers for the future, I watched LaDarius Brown a junior WR from Waxahachie when they played Waco Midway last weekend. Has anyone else seen him play? Maybe he just had an off night, but I wonder if he has the speed needed. The RB from Waxahachie looked really good, no idea who he is right now. Ahmad Dixon, the safety from Midway made some dumb mistakes, I am pulling back off of him in my opinion.
Does it occur to anyone else that the likelihood of playing on the greatest defense in the country does immeasurable things to one's future NFL career. We have an absolutely devastating defense with solid returners. With Bible, Wilson, Jeffcoat, Hicks, and Benson, this could be the nucleus of a nuclear defense in two years?
May be that feeling is just heartburn, because as much as I would like to see all three in burnt orange the fact of the matter is ... White was long gone before Cobbs every even reconsidered, Jeffcoat is not coming to TEXAS, and Hicks is at very best a long shot. The time to move on to 2011 recruiting was months ago. Although I confess Cobbs was a nice surprise and nothing would make me happier than to eat these words ... but don't count on it, you are just setting yourself up for another recruiting disappointment.
I heard from my source that there is a glimmer of hope with White. I'll just say that he and the Texas coaches are finally on the same page. I'm not saying, I'm just saying. Regardless, he likes the attention that comes with his decision.
I think Hicks is the most probable based on what I have read but who knows. I am happy with what we have at this point and anyone else who we are targeting is just icing on a pretty sweet cake.
Anybody that claims to have a clue about Jeffcoat is blowing smoke. Texas is in real good shape with Hicks, not a sure thing but right in there.
When was the last time TEXAS got a Five Star, top 1,2,3 or so recruit in the country this late in the game? Chris Simms 1999. Frank Okam 2004? Those are the only two. I hope I am wrong about all three or any one them, but I don't think so, we shall certainly see.
VY committed after the army all star game and he was the number 1 player and the only ****** player ever
Speedway was just on drugs. It was his way of setting the bar low and then If we get one, it is a surprise. White may be having second thoughts, if he is normal, he would.
For whatever reasons, our success getting oos recruits late in the game is not a good sign. Most likely due to recruiting philosophy. Being a Horn fan looking for a positive, I'll attribute it to our staff being honest and not willing to do the evil things required with many of the players that have dragged this "look at me" story out so long. Maybe they want promises, a luxury condo, secured 4.0 gpa, girls and cash and aren't committing til one school trumps all others. If thats it then Saban, Carroll, Miles and Meyer must be demons because they get the signatures. Certainly Jeffcoat and Hicks do not belong in this paragraph..... Maybe we have a shot with them...
