I was just wondering if anyone has any first or second hand info on How Gilbert has done this year, now that we can take in a whole season of running second team in practice, being the heir apparent, etc. How's he come along? I remember Vince saying we were in good shape with Colt after the big game and we all thought, whew, coming from Veesus and all. I know he's awesome, his background, and he looked good in spot duty.
It will be a lot like 2006 but we will have the benefit of a down Big XII, a weaker OU and an easier OOC schedule.
ever heard of Shea Morenz or Chance Mock? One or both were HS All Americans. you just dont know until GG gets quality snaps next fall although he 'shoulda' had more throwing ops w 1st team in numberous 4th quarters THIS year.
Shea and Chance were both damn good QB's who just happened to get beat out by someone else at Texas. They could have been damn successful if their situations were a little different. In any case, it will be fun to watch GG develop. Colt will be missed, of course, but he still has a couple somewhat meaningful games left.
If Aggie and Tech get their act together as expected, they will be in the mix. OU will compete. I see OSU at this point fighting it out with Baylor for the bottom position next year. Most likely Case will redshirt while Connor Wood and GG will compete with Sherrod Harris. No way coaches make GG starting QB without ANY competition. Besides, he hasn't shown the ability to move the ball in garbage time. Chiles even managed to move the ball/score then.
Gilbert will do great so long has he keeps his hair short and doesn't let it get long as he has done in the past. He begins to look eerily like Jevan Snead when he does.
Good thing we blew his redshirt so he could have 15 pass attempts under his belt going into next season.
"Gilbert will do great so long has he keeps his hair short and doesn't let it get long as he has done in the past." At least somebody's worrying about the important ****.
Don't think they expect he will be here for 4 years. Also, he will have the benefit of a great defense each year.
ATF, Thanks for immortalizing that Spidey haiku by placing it in your sig. I laugh harder each time I read it!
I think we have an excellent chance of going undefeated next year as well. Our defense is going to be friggin scary. We may only need 20 pts to win games. I don't see anyone else in our conference ready to step up. We would have been 10-2 at worst this year with GG starting, imho.
It would have been nice to see him get more throwing attempts against Missouri, OkSt, Baylor and maybe Central Florida and be able to build upon his experience. I think it will be getting him more practice time over the next month heading into the spring. That position along with new OL, LBers and the DL will be key heading into next year. There are some returning players with experience on the lines but you can never have too many lineman (and TEs ready to go.
