I saw a post on another hornfans.com thread that mentioned someone's sig using a shockwave app that is showing up on their virus scan.

That got me to wondering why my computer goes haywire sometimes while on hornfans.com (and only on hornfans.com). When I click on certain threads, it acts like it is opening multiple items in fast sequence. I can't do anything until it decides to settle back down on it's own. If I try closing down, it starts to open multiple Windows faster than I can possiblly read them.

Seeing as I'm not real computer savvy (you guessed that much, huh?), tell me if this could be related to the sig comment someone else made. I'm thinking that perhaps this is happening when I click on threads where certain people have posted, and my computer freaks out.

-Can't answer your direct ques., BUT

Memorize these keystrokes, they may save your box from malware / ransom-ware, etc.

    - CTRL +F4 : immediately closes the running Appl. with focus (in this case your browser - since yu are on HF).
    - CTRL + w : closes an open tab, in a tabbed browser - can be done repeatedly, for those other suspect tabs.
Point being is to NOT mouse click anywhere on a new pop-up / new tab / etc. -this may be anal, but useful, non-the-less.

IMHO, this flash shiite is getting out of hand.
    You are windows?, I assume.

yeah, the specific one that was given through one of the banner ads here on hornfans is pesky and acts like some type of malware protection alert system. it is very confusing and won't allow you to start any applications. i don't even know what the purpose of this type of malware would be. how are they supposed to get good information from you if your ******* computer stops working?

that is why i call it a virus i guess..... it's not spying on ****, it renders the PC unusable. i wonder if it was done to really get to you to buy the antivirus software from teh site it always tries to send you to? either way, i would like to punch the guy who wrote it directly in the nuts.

Use Firefox and install the plugin Adblock Plus ASAP.

You'll be downright flabergasted at how much faster everything is all of a sudden as well.

If your original assertion is true, you could make a killing selling it on TexAgs.

There is an ad in the rotation that is scum. It started popping up a few months ago. Beware if you go here with limited protection or knowledge. I just gotThe Link from this site.

The other one I've seen more often is from some company that tries to extort you into buying their software to remove the crap they put on your PC. I'm almost certain it is coming from the banner ad rotation. They trick you by making you think you have a virus, so you click "yes" to install. It gets worse from there.

I know it is coming fromt the banner rotation because the only sites i go to like three sites..... and this is the one that caused it.... again.

Sorry about this, guys. The ad agency is supposed to be killing it. I appreciate your patience.

It killed my computer. And not knowing how to get rid of it, took it to local shop for $120 strip and re-start. UGGGHHH.

I think a lot of computers have stopped liking Hornfans over the past year.

None that mattered. Sometimes when a tic or parasite falls off an animal, the animal is better for it.

loop - you cannot be serious. You make it sound as if you are okay (maybe even excited) about the prospect of losing participants who are tired of their machines getting infected.

That can't possibly be accurate - or can it?

Not talking about computers. I am sorry for anybody whose machine got messed up or tweaked. Mine did too but I got lucky and got to it fast. Well, a friend did for me.
