Also the SEC SEC SEC is historically 95-45-4 against Texas. Even when you take out Arkansas it's still 39-24-4 with Texas having a winning record over everyone in the SEC with exception of Vandy who has the record over Texas at 3-8-1 with the most recent game being played in 1928 and South carolina at 0-1 with MSU being 500 at 2-2.
And Texas is 7-0-1 against Alabama, too. What's your point? I wasn't referencing history going back to eternity, just this bowl season. Go post on TexAgs goober.
Mighty Auburn, who almost beat Bama, gave up over 600 yards of offense and won only after Northwestern missed a field goal at the end of regulation, missed a filed goal in overtime when the kicker got hurt, and then had to go for it on 4th down when they didn't have a kicker to kick a 20 yard field goal. Impressive.
I hate the SEC as much as the next guy. Having said that I think you still have to give them the nod as being the best conference year. 4 out of 5 years they are the best.
No fan of the SEC here but they were clearly the best conference this year. Not saying much as every other conference seemed to be down this year. An overrated should be 2 loss coming in Cincy team made Florida look a lot better than they are last night but the Gators are defintiely one of the top 4 teams in the country as is Alabama and no conference can say they have that strength at the top.
The SEC is the best conference this year, as it often is, but the gap isn't anywhere near as large as the mediots and SEC fans like to say it is. And Texas is as good as any team in the SEC, and will prove it when the Horns beat Alabama and win the MNC.
Selectively reading the posts? I think I read 3-4 posts right before yours giving props to the SEC, and OP is definitely not representative of HF, but whatever...
Just watching the end of the cotton bowl. The tally is now 4-3. Easily could have gone the other way if not for the non call on the offsides that resulted in a pick in the endzone by Ole Miss. However, they did win it. Never said the SEC wasn't a great football conference. My argument was that they are not top to bottom world beaters and the play in most of the games so far has shown there is a lot more parity between the conferences than you would think listening to ESPN. Wouldn't mind seeing Arkie U lose in the Liberty Bowl and hope Texas Tech represents well in the Alamo. Hook em.
One other thought. If you look at Nebraska and how they destroyed Arizona I think the top two teams in the Big 12 easily rank with the top 2 in the SEC. Would have loved to have seen the matchup between NU and Florida rather and CU in the Sugar. Oh well.
Oh, that's right. Arizona spotted them 33 before the game started. And besides, Defense doesn't matter, let alone win bowl games. My mistake.
Arkansas is doing a number on the mighty East Carolina Pirates. They've held them to 10 first half points while almost getting close to getting off the goose egg themselves. 10-0 ECU over Arky with under a minute left until halftime Goooo SEC!!!
Nebraska had enough offense to hang with us, and I have no doubt that we're on the same level as Florida and Alabama. If Auburn and Tennessee could hang with Bama, I have no doubt that Nebraska could have.
Speaking of Arkansas's offense, I think Eddie Money's halftime lip syncing was more offensive than the Razorbacks.
