Argghh! I screwed up big time and accepted (a few weeks ago) a committment to play guitar at an event on the weekend of January 9/10. I just realized last night that rehearsal is on Thursday ... the 7th! ... at 7pm! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ... TEXAS vs BAMA!!! I spent 2 hours in bed last night, unable to go to sleep, freaking out about this scheduling conflict. Think I came up with a solution though ... I just called Comcast to order a DVR. I am not missing this game! I'll have to shut off my phone to avoid text messages and phone calls

Hey Guy, need to get your priorities straight. There is no way in hell I would miss the game due to a rehearsal. Rehearsals/gigs will come and go. This game will not. You gotta watch it live. Call in sick for the rehearsal. They'll reschedule for you I'd bet. Otherwise, just cancel.
I think you should watch the game live, mute the sound, then play the guitar as you watch the game. Really express your feelings as things are happening. Record the sound. Then afterward regardless of the outcome, upload the highlights to youtube.
Unfortunately I have you beat Bayerithe. I made sure to pressure the same Austin bunch of friends (obviously I live in Houston) to host the very same MNC party as we had in 2006. Same people MUST be present, same food prepared, same location, etc. Everything so far has come together perfectly. Then I have a company we recently acquired out of state go ape **** on me and my CEO (who happens to be aggy & former corp) insists I be present at this company to get everything back under control. My flight back to Houston is for Thursday at 7:10PM. You can imagine how I felt once I realized the error of my ways... Fortunately I'm flying Southwest and yes, I will be at the airport 5 hours early on the standby list so I can get to Houston and then break the land speed record driving to Austin. Any DPS alum out there? Could you possibly give a poor, old, diehard orangeblood an escort perchance???
We've recorded quite a few games on Saturdays when the weather was nice and we wanted to take the boat to Lake Travis. You are right, turn off the phone, no radio, and don't look at the "Tower." If you don't know the score it's realtime, sorta. It's nice to be able to skip through all the BS commercials, too.
