We should not be railroaded into using Southern Pacific! That might derail the whole expansion process. We need to keep the conference realignment express on the tracks.
You guys are killing me I love the Southern Pacific conference, Wet and Dry divisions ...and the Sweet 16 conference...and the South by Southwest conference. but speaking seriously, I think that the simple (and nostalgic), "Southwest Conference" works best for a new name. It partners perfectly with the Southeast Conference.... and hell, since the SEC and SWC will be the only conferences winning championships in the future, who cares what the names of the other conferences are...
I do admit to liking Pac-Tex or Tex-Pac. If nothing else for how it will grate on the nerves of a LOT of other people.
Super West Conference If the Pac-10 expands to 16 teams and becomes the first so-called "super" conference, then it seems as though "Super" ought to be in the name.
regards In-and-Out.. I lived in CA for a while and thought well of those burgers, moved back to Austin, and upon a trip to Central Coast a month ago, I ate those burgers every day... got back here and can say Mighty Fine Hamburgers beat In-and-Out. My suggestion for the name.... Pacific Western Conference... I guess. And the Divisions.... Rodeo (Ro-Day'-Oh) vs Rodeo (Ro-dee-Oh)
glenn, that's how I was trained. I was an engineer in a former life. At least I avoided using "ties", "ballast", "loco-motive" and "caboose" in my ramblings!
Hmmmm... Well, they're gonna insist on "PAC" in there, somewhere. I kinda like "WestPac" - rolls off the tongue a little better'n "PacWest", although it sounds more like a railroad than a college conference. For the true Texan, though, I think we might wanna combine our well-known self-appreciation with something that reflects back at their own "Pac-8 and the Lepers" attitude: The TAT Conference - that's Texas and Them... you know, like you'd call some folks you don't know real well, as in "Hey, we're havin' a little get-together Saddy night, why'nt ya ask yer cousin and them to come on over?" Although, come to think on it, The TAT is exactly what the Huskers and the Taggers think they're in rat now... so we might's well keep it, you reckon?
I'm supprised glenn or one of the other B10 proponents has not suggested the Southwestern University Conference.
