We played thru the "gauntlet of death" two years ago with )OU, MU, OSU and TT and damn near pulled it off. Outside of the SEC, no one has that kind of week in, week out competition.

This year we have TT, UCLA, OU and NU early. That isn't exactly a cupcake schedule.

You want a cupcake schdeule, check out KSU

I don't interpret the linked won-loss chart as an indicator of toughness of schedule. One might interpret, with no other information, that the teams near the top of the list had the weakest schedules thus leading to more wins. I don't believe this is indicated either. More information is needed to draw a conclusion.

I, for one, am always pleased when UT schedules more upper echelon opponents and it appears that is the case in the coming years. I think Mack and DeLoss have it figured out pretty well. Maximize home games, have a cannon fodder opponent or two, include one or two testers and concentrate on winning the conference. This has resulted in maximized name recognition/profits, excellent record, high rankings and the possibility of getting into a nat'l championship game. It is a delicate balancing act.

Reagrding a warning to UT from the NCAA about OOC schedule, I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT AT ALL.

Newsflash!!! Truth in advertising does NOT apply to sports radio talkshow hosts. They don't go on double secret probation for talking through their posterior.

The NCAA has virtually nothing to do with how a team makes out its' schedule. The NCAA has nothing to do with BCS rankings, beyond effectively killing the hopes of a team on serious probation.

Joseph Goebbels of Team Nazi was a master of what's called the "Big Lie" theory...repeat what you want believed, no matter how preposterous it might be, often and with conviction, and with authority backing you up, and a significant number of (weak-minded) people will buy what you're selling.

If the "Big Lie" theory didn't exist, neither would sports or newstalk radio. If a significant number of people out there didn't want some talking head on radio to do their thinking for them, sports and newstalk radio also wouldn't exist either.

Whatever *** clown up in Big D claimed the NCAA warned UT about the laxity of it's schedule obviously has a target audience of zero-u and agricultural fans, and, uh, intelligence-challenged listeners. P.T. Barnum was right, but not entirely.

"and, uh, intelligence-challenged listeners." _____ A Tenn fan chimed in that "Texas was afraid of the sec because of 6 of the last 10 natl championships came from the sec, starting with Tenn in 1998"

It needs to be remembered that a bunch of Metroplex media types think DFW is part of southern Oklahoma. It's not worth getting your panties in a wad over anything you hear on radio in Baja Oklahoma.

The info is almost completely backwards . . .

Actually, Texas has petitioned the NCAA to add Chuck Norris to the FBS so the Longhorns we can schedule him twice a year.
