Anyone else interested in seeing this? Predators trailer When I first heard about it, I expected it to be stupid and derivative, like the AVP flicks. However, when I heard that it's directed by Robert Rodriguez and stars some heavy-hitters like Adrien Brody and Larry Fishburne, my interest was piqued. Comes out next Friday, July 9th.
Feedback from pre-screening has been very good. All the inside filming was done in Austin and the exterior stuff shot down near Canyon Lake, and in Hawaii. This is one that I'll definitely go see on the big screen in all it's glorious splendor.
Good to hear that it has gotton positive feedback. I didn't know much about it other than seeing the trailer and I thought it could be really good, but probably would fall far short of my expectations. Sounds like it is definately worth seeing. My wife actually likes action flicks more than I do, so maybe this will be a 'date night' movie
The last I saw of Fishburne he had put on quite a bit of weight. Unless he has lost some of it for this film the premise of him being an ex navy seal stranded on a planet hiding in a cave while dodging Predators may be stretching the boundaries of believability. Perhaps a Uruguayan rugby team was stranded with him initially and Fishburne ate them to survive. Yes, that would make more sense.
Actors from predator are 2-0 in gubernatorial elections. I think Larry and Topher have a good shot. I am officially pumped. This movie is going to kicks ***.
Topher Grace, Adrian (The Pianist) Brody, and fat, old Lawrence Fishburne; not exactly; The Govenator, Bill Duke, and Jesse Ventura. I'm putting my money on the Predators. I'll see it. Haven't missed one yet.
Saw it last night... it's kind of a snoozer if you ask me. Probably should have waited for it to come out on DVD.
The new trailer is pretty funny but I liked the one about the new Karate Kid much better. Good stuff, all of it.
I saw it last night. In the first scene I thought Adrien Brody should've used his enormous nose as an airfoil to save himself. Then, after he crashed, I had to suspend my disbelief when the nosebleed from that prominently protruding proboscis wasn't more serious. It's massive and injury to it should be life threatening. SPOILER!!!!!! I thought the first Predator with the two Governators was better. And Danny Trejo died way too early. I believe the latest Rambo was a better flick and could have waited on the DVD for this one. My other movie option here in Marble Falls was "Knight and Day," so I trust I made the right choice.

it wasn't bad. i liked it. it had some flaws. the topher grace thing was weak and i thought they wasted fishburne's character. i went to the premiere and robert was asked about trejo. he said danny wasn't supposed to be in the movie. in the casting guidelines, they said to go find a trejo like character and he called the director and said, "i look like danny trejo". he knew he was going to die...just wanted a bit part. robert didn't want him in the film because it interfered with machete but the bit part was ok with him.
I heard first hand reviews from 2 people who saw it today and they said don't bother. Disappointed b/c I was going to go see it before that.
Saw it. As someone said, it's the best of the Predator sequels for what that's worth. My question is, do the Predators ever win any, or are they the intergalactic warrior equivalent of Rice? You'd think that fearsome, 7-foot, invisible beings with plasma weapons, infra red, and all the rest would blow through a ragtag bunch of psychos and mercenaries. But, instead, they're 0-fer. I had a hard time accepting Adrian Brody in the Arnold role. Like Fast Fred, I kept focusing on his huge snozz. It's in the Jimmy Durante/Barbra Streisand class. The predator "dogs" were a waste. They're only purpose seemed to be to allow the humans to zero in their gun sights All in all, it was just OK. A summer, popcorn action flick. No one will ever reprise the greatness of the original movie.
Unimpressed, other than to later learn the lead was the same guy in the male lead in Splice, another not so hot movie. I wasn't familiar with Adrien Brody before these two movies, didn't pay enough attention to the cast credits for his identity to stick, found out it was the same guy, and am somewhat chagrined, somewhat intrigued by the fact that I didn't recognize him in Predators as the same guy I had seen two weeks previously in Splice. I hope I can blame his acting range more than my own obliviousness. But yeah, advanced weaponry, supply capability, knowledge of the terrain, greater physical strength, but taken out by a somewhat tactically imaginative tough guy with guns and grenades? If I'm a guy without a gun in a group of guys with guns and a pack of hunting animals come after us, I think I stay behind the guys with the guns and don't run off alone. Just a hunch.
I don't know exactly what scene you are talking about, but if it's a scene that looks like a small waterfall lagoonish type it was filmed at Mckinney State Park. I was there when they were setting up to film it at the "upper" falls I think (I always get them confused). They set up during the day and were gonna film at night.
