Anyone have experience with a 4cycle straight shaft ryobi weedeater? pros? cons? if not can you recommend a weedeater. i dont' need professional grade just functional and realiable for my yard.
They are good machine. Buy the quick change head if its not already on it. You'll thank me later. When I had my lanscaping company, we used Stihl commercially, but I had good luck with the Ryobi at home. DON'T buy Homelite or any other bargain basement brands.
Do yourself a favor and just spend the money on a good commercial brand like Stihl or Echo. You'll save yourself a lot of hassle in the years to come.
I had one for 5 or six years. It was nice using straight gas. When it broke no-one would service it. Parts apparently scarce. I bought a new Echo and love it.
I'm pretty rough with my Echo, but after 10+ years it's still going strong. Had to replace the carb, plug, and fuel line, but even if you take it to a Echo dealer, that shouldn't set you back too much.
Cub Cadet CC 2090 (2 cycle straight shaft) or if you are environmentally inclined the CC 4175 (4 cycle straight shaft)
Echo or Shihl 2-cycle. they will last forever. just drain the fuel every winter to keep the ethanol out of the carb
I had bought the Ryobi then decided to return it for an Echo. I did this before i read all your great feedback and it appears I made the right decision. I broke it in yesterday, and damn was it nice. I had been working with an inherited homelite weedeater ( my fiance bought it before we met) and I had to restrain myself so as not to smash that POS on my driveway. Thanks guys!
Echo or Stihl. No brainer. You can still get it worked on forever. I've got one that is 14 years old. Definitely do a 2-stroke.
