well, i would rather execute the dude that stalks a young girl for days, breaks into her home and rapes and murders her as opposed to an soldier who is put in a position of violence and works for an organization that perhaps recruits some with a propensity for violence and then puts them in a war zone to act on those impulses after providing them weapons and amunition. regardless if true, it is a pretty bad story. the truth is, if we adopted punishments like they have in saudi arabia or indonesia, we wouldnt have much crime, just like they dont.
This from the article concerned me "Winfield called the Army and a military hot line asking officials to investigate - to no avail. " If true that is troubling Hopefully more information will come out.

You know, the story ran in a major British paper, yet there doesn't seem to be that much of an uproar in Afghanistan, at least nothing has been reported to indicate that the atrocities are that big of a deal. But... if those same soldiers had done something really, really despicable - like burning a pile of Korans- that might turn the citizens against us. Thank goodness they only conducted activities that were socially acceptable to Muslims; you know, like murdering innocent people.
