Well if we don't beat them next year then we will have another 8-5 season. I'll bet my house, my wife, my kids that we'll finish better than 8-5 next season.
Losing to LSU next year would be in my mind the end of the Tom Herman era. 1. You have a team you are catching in game 2 of a season where they are replacing their QB and installing a new defense and passing game. 2. They are replacing 4 of 5 offensive linemen. 3. They are replacing their top RB and 3 of top 5 receivers. 4. They are replacing all their linebackers and two of their DBs. They are not devoid of talent, Stingley might be the best player in the country regardless of position. They still have two very good receivers and some talented running backs. Even with all that talent, Texas returns so much that if we don't win, then Tom Herman is never going to win at Texas. Texas is finally an upper-classmen strong team. This is it for us. I expect nothing less than a Big 12 title and a playoff birth. We may get embarrassed in the playoffs like blowu routinely does, but I expect to be there.
Mike Leach's detractors strike back against all the positive buzz for Mississippi State. A funny anti-Leach, anti-MSU video below. (smells like Ole Miss fans at work) "You suppose 6-6 every year will satisfy these yokels?"
Wickline didn’t do so well here, but he’s had some success with Fedora at other teams. The OL coach and S&C coordinator go hand in hand. I’m skeptical whether the new Baylor regime will recruit and develop top flight OLs.
1/27 Baylor -- Dennis Johnson (LSU DL) is the Bears new DL coach. Jorge Munoz (LSU offensive analyst, former La. Lafayette OC) will coach Baylor's WRs. KU -- Chidera Uzo-Diribe (D-quality control at KU, formerly Colo. grad asst) will coach OLBs for the Jayhawks. LSU -- Bo Pelini (Youngstown State HC, former Nebraska HC and NFL asst) looks to take over as the Tigers' new DC. Ink isn't on the paper yet. Big Ed and Bo will need to find a new DL coach (see Baylor above) and possibly fill other staff positions. Ole Miss -- Deke Adams (Miss St DL) moves across the State to Oxford where he will coach the Rebels' DL. OU -- DeMarco Murray (Arizona RBs) is back in Norman, this time as the Sooners' RB coach.
Bo Pelini on the Husker fans, after a narrow 2013 victory over UCLA: "Our crowd. What a bunch of ******* fair-weather *******—they can all kiss my *** out the ******* door. 'Cause the day is ******* coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm ******* gone. I'm so ******* pissed off." https://deadspin.com/bo-pelini-on-nebraska-fans-f**k-you-fans-f**k-all-o-1327398903 Probably not the best way to talk about your team's fans now that you're in Louisiana, Bo.
LSU has a DL coach. Dennis Johnson, hired by Baylor, was "demoted" to analyst after he blew out both knees before the season started (playing basketball), meaning he wouldn't be able to coach on the field. Orgeron brought in Bill Johnson, long time NFL DL coach, for the season and at the end of the season decided to keep him in the position. So DJ needed to find an on the field job someplace...
The rats leaving the LSU ship is unbelievable. I wonder how many will send Joe Burrow a thank you note with a check?
Rats leaving and Orgeron replaces one with a snake. i hope if that piece of **** comes out on the field to hit or kick one of our players that our kid decks the son of a *****.
What ever is the state of Baylor football next year it won’t be for lack of coaching credentials. How they attracted such a group I just do not get. But I am certainly biased.
"The volcanic Pelini represents a stark departure from the stoic Dave Aranda, who left earlier this month to become the head coach at Baylor." You don't say... All signs point to Bo Pelini being next LSU defensive coordinator - CollegeFootballTalk | NBC Sports
Wow! I can't believe the guy is still allowed to coach. I always thought he was a mental case. Just flat crazy!
I have to disagree with the first sentence. Losing one game is not an end to a coaches era. I do agree that Texas should win B12 and that should put the Horns in CFP. LSU will reload everywhere except QB. Their receivers will be only slightly less effective than last year. We lost our two best receivers too. The wild card will be all LSU's coach losses. How much success the new coaches have installing their system will be critical. (Same could be said for the Horns on this one). They lost coaches due to their success. We lost coaches due to their failure. But I think our QB edge should put us on top of LSU next year, in a nail biter. Plus our defense should be much better. And our run game should be very, very good.
Agree^^^ One game does not kill a coaches career. We need to see improvement in player development, scheme, game planning before each game, and some improved game management but I do think that has improved some since 2017. I am thinking we end up 10-2 at the end of regular season. I want to say 11-1 but until I am proven wrong, I cant put stock in us not dropping 2 games we should not. I do think Texas will be the most talented team on the field for all 12 games. LSU being the only one that is really close (toss up) in that regard. If we go 8-4 or 9-3 that would look pretty bad on the Head Coach. If we go 10-2 but somehow don't get in to the Big 12 Playoff that would be a surprise and some lower rank team would have to really do well. Like Baylor for instance. But in the off chance that does happen. Tom Herman should keep his job. 10-2 and then win the bowl game. No way he gets canned for that. Even 9-3 and win bowl game would be hard to justify. Fans may be howling but I predict TH stays then too. I reserve the right to update this prediction after the Spring Game.
Can you imagine all the saliva spewing out on the sideline with both coach O and Pellini ranting and screaming? Players might need to bring the long cleats if they're spending much time on the sideline.
There will be some epic temper tantrums down on the bayou. Another thing I remember about Pelini is that he sure whined and cried a lot about the big bad Texas Longhorns. Look for Bama to be the new primary target for his juvenile emotional release and crybaby b!tching.
I don't know about that Chop. Recently their big recruiting fights have been with Texas, and then there is the camp issue.
Ha! It will get interesting real quick if we schedule a camp in Louisiana and Ed sends Pelini to try to shut it down.
