Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports shared an interesting list of candidates on Sunday, including some familiar names to SEC fans: Dan Mullen (Former Florida/Mississippi State head coach) Dave Aranda (Baylor) Jim Leonhard (Wisconsin interim) Lance Leipold (Kansas) Matt Campbell (Iowa State) Sean Lewis (Kent State) Matt Rhule (Carolina Panthers) Chris Petersen (Former Washington/Boise State head coach Other names being batted around: Dave Doeren - NC State Luke Fickell - Cincinatti (he might seriously consider a Wisconsin offer, this is a premium Big 10 job, just a step below aOSU and Michigan) Wisconsin coaching search: Former SEC head coach listed among candidates by CBS Sports Wisconsin coaching search: Kansas' Lance Leipold targeted by Badgers, per Blake Brockermeyer Greg McElroy: Wisconsin Has "Easiest Coaching Search Of All Time" Wisconsin coaching candidates: Lance Leipold, Jim Leonhard among leading options to replace Paul Chryst
NFL news: Rhule is out. He’s gotta be near the top of any decent program’s wish list for a new coach. Who will it be…
Why the hell would Aranda have a single thought about Nebraska? He will get consideration for Auburn, for FSU, for LSU, for Arizona State, maybe Wisconsin, and Iowa. Some of those are better gigs than Baylor, some are not. I would think the only jobs he gives a sniff would be Wisconsin and LSU. Should Stanford wise up and/or get tired of getting the trophy every year for employing the biggest ******* in coaching, Aranda might choose to "go home".
In the news of former Longhorn coaches category: Derek Warehime just got fired as the OC of New Mexico.
I am formally informing this board, I am in the running for the Nebraskas job, call me a dark kernel.
Breaking news from Lincoln: …the head coaching job will be decided by a corn-on-the-cob eating contest between Big Ed and Bielema.
I'd rather see Mangino at Wisconsin. Who cares if they are competitive, the battles between Mangino & Barry Alvarez would be legend and occupy Sports Center every night.
Last I heard RC Slocum was tan, rested and Big 10 ready.... could lead People of the Corn to new Heights....
RC is too good a friend and too great a guy to let him even consider that. He's also too old. Not sure his age, but it has to be somewhere around 80+.
He was a great coach at KU. They never should have fired him. And we should have picked him up as an OC somewhere along the way. My understanding is that he has lost an enormous amount of weight, sooooooo….
