At this point I believe Pierce is coaching for his job and winning a series like this at home over a down TCU is absolutely a must if he plans to be coaching in Austin past June.

    Grubbs!

    K

    one down

Grubbs working the lower part of the strike zone with his sinker and targeted fastballs. His usual bread and butter.

Grubbs looks like he's in-sync tonight. And his sinker appears to be working. Some good hitting by those 2 batters. Most batters in today's college game seem to have trouble hitting the inside corners of the plate.

Other than Kennedy in the 2 hole, Pierce made out a great line up that gives us the best chance to win.

Yeah. Kennedy has to keep improving that batting average.

    How about:

    1. Thomas
    2. Powell
    3. Flores
    4. Schuessler
    5. Belyeu
    6. Galvan
    7. Gasparino
    8. Brown
    9. D. Kennedy

And get Oliver Service 3-4 innings at the end of the game at CF or LF

    1-0 them

Grubbs has around 30 pitches, which is a pace that has him pitching 100 pitches in around 7 innings.

Grubbs looking sharp. 31 pitches through 2 innings, not too shabby.

All these slow starts on offense point to poor scouting of the opposing teams. I wish we'd do something to fix that. Our batters should have watched lots of film of the opposing starters, their timing, where they like to spot pitches, how and how much their pitches break, what pitches they like to throw for various counts, etc. We should know the opponents' starting (and main relieving) pitchers like the back of our hand.

    Gotta fix that deficiency.

Quick inning. TCU pitcher is only up to 24 pitches, slightly more efficient than Grubbs.

Idk, offense will always be inconsistent even if it's good, pitching and defense is where teams have to be consistent to win. However, our struggles against teams that we shouldn't is an issue.
