CB ..... 5-11/160 An Army All-American and The Opening Finals invitee, Bryon Murphy is being recruited by Tommy Robinson... who just happens to have been his 7th grade FBU coach. On top of that, his HS position coach is some ol' guy named Bryant Westbrook. Murphy says of Westbrook, “He’s always on me, ‘You’re going to be a Longhorn.’ He’s always saying that at practice, recruiting me for Texas.” Per 247Sports on his performance at The Opening Regional: The defensive back group was so talented that Murphy could have easily been the top performer of the group. He showed great feet, some great competitive traits and was rarely beaten in coverage.
Byron Murphy picked up a Texas offer last month, and he’s trying to find a way to get to Austin. Murphy said he’s going to take an official visit to Texas A&M the weekend the Aggies play Alabama (Oct 17) and he wants to get to Austin after his A&M visit concludes. Don’t look for that to happen, but Murphy said if it doesn’t he’ll either try to visit Texas unofficially this summer or for an official visit.
