Apparently, blabbing your coach's unethical recruiting promises to the press really pays off.

His star rankings say he is better than Heard. He'll get to start against a not-so-good South Carolina (3-4), followed by Auburn (4-3). He has a chance to have some early success if all goes well.

Agree. The controversy begins when Allen gets healthy.

Question: When does aggy NOT seem like a disaster waiting to happen?

Answer: Only during the middle of the disaster in progress!

He'll probably make a splash against weak USC, just as Kenny Hill did a couple of seasons ago. He's quick and is a true dual threat qb.

At his size, the issue will be keeping him healthy. I've heard it said that he's not even as big as advertised.

I'm biased because I live in Allen, TX and saw every one of Kyler's HS games. He is the best HS football player ever produced in the State of Texas. If he is one tenth as good in college, this will be a new dawn for Texas A&M. Which of course makes me very sad.

    J. Heard isn't in the same ballpark when it comes to passing skills. They are both fast, but Kyler is faster. They're both winners!

about time I've been waiting to see him actually get some real playing time.

The best to come out of Texas hold your horses buddy, but I am using him in fan duel this morning so he better light it up today at least

Even if Kyler fizzles in college, he will go down as one of the top 2 or 3 best HS players ever. I'm telling you, the kid was magical in HS. I think he was tackled (i.e. touched) less than 5 times in 3 seasons! I know HS is not a predictor of college success (think J. Gray), or college is not a predictor of NFL success (think Vince Young), but as a HS player, Kyler was special.

Kyler's biggest issue is Texas A&M itself. They always find a way to underachieve.

He was a hell of a player no doubt I have made the drive from Keller see him play many of times. Top 10 no doubt I would maybe rank him top 5 just due to size ( us little guys have to stick together )

Kyler looks just as quick as Heard, but yes he has a strong arm.

Heard can break tackles being 6'2" and with strong legs (strong squatter). Saw him to do it last week. Not sure about Kyler.

He looked a lot more under control than Heard ever has. Other than one bad line collapse when he took a bad loss, he didn't seem flustered. He also had good ball placement. It'll be tough to take the starting job away from him if he continues to play like he did today.

Murry looked great on the field... and the game looked just like a high school game. He was right at home. I doubt S. Carolina could beat a good Texas high school team. Announcers kept pointing out the Gamecocks' defense would just line up and not move til the ball was snapped. Now Spav and Murray are glorified for play calling and execution. Well, duh!

What we saw today was eye candy to please the aggy fan base. They have zero competition coming up til LSU, although beating Auburn is not a gimme.

Home game vs. mediocre team not determinative, but Murray has such incredible speed and with strong arm could easily be better than Manziel, as a college QB. How he plays in Baton Rouge after 3 home warm up games will be interesting. Ags may indeed have their Quarterback for the next 4 years, provided good health. I imagine the newly crowned backup QB (K. Allen) is seeing the handwriting on the wall and may not stick around--sitting behind Murray for 2 or 3 years is not conducive to a possible pro career. Even with the odds against it, in today's world just too much money in the pros to pass up college playing time. We'll see--on both of them--in just a few weeks.

caveat: I wrote this before the kickoff to the Texas - Iowa State game.
I cannot think anything anymore due to my discovery that college football is a quantum wave with none of it determined or even predictable. Not even with probability. Nuts!

I'm sure aggyland is gitty and enthralled over Murray.
Below is one way of looking at what he accomplished today. More of my overly-detailed essay posts... (bored waiting for the game to start):

    1. Game at Kyle today was next-to-closest loss SC has had this season. Their other, -4 to Kentucky at home. All other loses by double digits, and all on the road.

    2. SC lost at Georgia by -32, at Mizzou by -14, and at LSU by -21. So today on the road, not a bad outing with a recent coaching change and losing by only -7.

    3. SC is in last place in SEC East. One conference win: Vandy at home.

    4. Heard's big game, second start: 527 total yards; Murray first start, 379.
Heard played a much better opponent by a country mile. Of course, Heard's team lost, Murray's team won. Credit scoreboard.
Passing in their big game: Heard 364, Murray 223.
    Rushing: Heard 163, Murray 156.

    5. Heard has two state championships back to back. Murray has three in a row and never lost a high school game he started. Undefeated in college as well. So far.

The next few games Murray plays will pale by comparison to the competition Heard has played since he started, to include Cal, Ok-State and OU, while aggy will play, all at home, 4-4 Auburn, 5-3 Western Carolina, 3-4 Vandy. Then a real game, LSU on the road.

    6. Jury is out until Texas plays Baylor, and aggy plays LSU. Given character issues portrayed by the Murray clan recently, and nowithstanding playing abilities shown so far -- I'll still take Jerrod in a heart-beat for establishing a program and building an identity.

    7. Prediction: Murray likely not the starter a year from now (before or sometime during the season), and likely playing only baseball by Spring 2017. Not solely because of abilities. One of those things only Yoda can see.

Longhorn verbal QBs for 2016-17, assuming they sign, should not have to play their first year aboard. Horns' program will develop as a complete Alabama-type (or Ohio State, without off-field problems) team, does not need Savior-Glamour athlete at QB. Aggy likely will continue as a mixed bag of novelty and dramatics, on and off the field. Fun to watch, fun to follow. (I watched the whole game today... I may be one of their biggest non-fan fans!).
    Hook'em Horns! :bevo:

    Aggie = Jerry Jones

YEARS/DECADES of failure while behaving as if they are a player and are relevant, and if it ever happens that they win it all they will assume the throne and gloat in ways that haven't even been invented yet.
