6-2 record as a starter. Set school records for most touchdowns in a season, career lowest interception percentage (5 in 113 attempts), and most touchdowns in a season by a QB (all since broken).
IMO his shining accomplishment in a Longhorn uni was successfully snagging an errant snap on the only Texas PAT attempt of the day in Fayetteville December 1969, giving the ‘Horns a victory in the “Game of the Century”.

#18 Bill Bradley rolling out with Chris Gilbert in front of him. Two Longhorn greats

One of the greatest all around athletes the State of Texas ever produced. Later became a phenomenal defensive coordinator. In fact, the three greatest single game defensive coaching accomplishments for me are:

    1) Leon Fuller against OU in 1979 - 5 first downs but 2 on penalties

    2) Rick Lantz against FSU - only coach I know to successfully change his entire defense for one game. Those kids were so well coached that on the last play the LBs & SS were yelling the offensive play when FSU lined up.

    3) Bill Bradley's Baylor defense against OU. He had the Sooners so confused that they didn't know whether to **** or go blind. Stoops is still wondering where "all those damn linebackers came from".

Leon Fuller was mentioned. My favorite Horn teams were his defenses.

Lance Gunn wore 16 and was an AA safety for David and the guy who replaced him. He and Stanley Richard were fun to watch

My favorite Lance Gunn story was when Penders asked me to take a recruit to the Texas/Arkansas game at Erwin Center. We were seated on the aisle about a dozen rows from the court. Arkansas had that fat kid as their star. It was a close game, and at one point during a free throw, Gunn walked down to the court and offered "fat boy" some of his ice cream. Gunn could have wiped the floor up with him (Miller??), and thought there would be blood letting. Every vein in both their faces and necks were popping out. Was it Oliver Miller? Anyway he backed away from the baseline.
