2020-2021 Season

Now 8 in the AP

8. TEXAS (7-1)
The Longhorns have three wins in a row since they lost at home against Villanova. A nonconference game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi received a postponement decision because of COVID-19 issues. The next big challenge for Shaka Smart and Texas comes on Saturday. Texas faces Kansas on the road Jan. 2 in a battle of top-10 teams. Texas has four starters averaging in double figures, including 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds from Greg Brown.

A win against KU in Kansas would be huge from a momentum POV. A loss is expected and the Horns can recover from it easily. I will hop on the bandwagon with a win.

I've been trying to not comment if I can't comment anything good, but I'm just waiting for the bubble to burst. There's no way I believe Texas is the #6 team in the land.

Bandwagon?
Is that what they call this jalopy I've been on since we won the NIT?

I'm not there yet. Shaka's teams have done poorly in conference to date. I hope he shows us something this year. I'd love to see us make the final 4 and give him another raise. I'm still a Shaka skeptic.

Looks like an epic conference season -- too bad fans wont get to fill the arenas (thanks again China). Whoever is left stranding should be in good shape for the NCAA. Maybe we can get two teams in the Final 4?

I saw an interview today with Kelvin Sampson (UH) and he made it clear in no way his team 5th best in the country. He asked what happens if 2 teams ahead of them lose this week, is UH suddenly the #3 team in the country? He laughed and shook his head. He would rather there be no early polling

And they immediately lose to Tulsa by one!

Yep, I kept flipping over there during the Okie lite game to see if they would finally get exposed, glad they did. I don't think we have room to talk though, I certainly don't see Texas as top 10 right now.

Other than the Tylan Wallace BS stunt, glad to see Okie like represent the conference well. Of course the Manny iaz defense got exposed too.

I will have to disagree with everyone. With the way Brown is playing and improving, this is definitely a top 10 team. Shame I just seen that Texas will not travel with a complete lineup to KU. I do not know who is out at this point.

Shaka has managed to dodge his critics and the unemployment line long enough to build the ideal team for his style of bball. He’s never been able to get the recipe to hit on time but I think he has now. He has a big and fast group that can run the court and play D, and produce offensively. Veteran leaders and a strong bench. This could finally be his year.

How about those Horns!!! Texas has now beaten Indiana, North Carolina, and KU (in KANSAS! Did not beat KU, kicked their arses). Can you imagine if we get the win in Kentucky. If your not on the bandwagon at this point, sorry but you are an Aggy and life sucks for you.

A Kentucky win doesn’t mean the same thing this year that it has before. But this team is killing it right now!

Love us scheduling games against all those traditional powerhouses. (Of course we get KU twice each year).

If they beat Kentucky at Rupp it’s huge I don’t care how bad Kentucky is playing. Several Big XII game before that and they need to keep playing hard and keep the positive momentum going.

".... The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee announced that beginning with the 2020-21 season, the NCAA Evaluation Tool will be changed to increase accuracy and simplify it by reducing a five-component metric to just two. The remaining factors include the Team Value Index (TVI), which is a result-based feature that rewards teams for beating quality opponents, particularly away from home, as well as an adjusted net efficiency rating.

The adjusted efficiency is a team’s net efficiency, adjusted for strength of opponent and location (home/away/neutral) across all games played. For example, a given efficiency value (net points per 100 possessions) against stronger opposition rates higher than the same efficiency against lesser opponents and having a certain efficiency on the road rates higher than the same efficiency at home.

No longer will the NET use winning percentage, adjusted winning percentage and scoring margin. The change was made after the committee consulted with Google Cloud Professional Services, which worked with the NCAA to develop the original NET...."
