Polling indicated that Biden did best against Trump. The list of people that I'd vote for over Trump is long and undistinguished. He's a threat to our republic.

As opposed to whom? Warren? Sanders? They are opening the door to the AOC's of the world and the racist types of rulings (favoring illegal aliens because she is a "wise Latina") and made up Constitutional law we get from Sotomayor.

‘It’s Unfair to Say Everything Was Bad’: Sanders Defends Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro

This man is despicable. You don't like tweets from Trump? How about a communist sympathizer for President. NEVER. This totally pisses me off. He is the enemy; not Trump.

    F U C K!!!!!

You cannot cherry-pick the good when the template of "success" is totalitarianism, despotism and a complete violation of human rights that constructs the low ceiling of oppression hovering above the masses because accumulation of wealth EVEN BY YOUR OWN EFFORTS is seen as a threat to THE PARTY.

"He's a threat to our republic. " Bubba Really?
    :whiteflag:
Every metric of our economy is rocking. Every major ethic and minority group is experiencing lowest unemployment in at least 50 years. The lowest rungs of employee are seeing wage increases. Stock market is up, have to see how the coronavirus affects it. People's 401ks are growing at a good clip.
Trade agreements are now more equitable to American workers. There has been great strides forward in prison reform. Opportunity Zones in urban areas are creating biz for minorities. Other nations are paying more of their share in NATO. Talks are moving forward on getting our troops out of Afgh. Overseas profits are coming back. Did you see the reception he got in India? Kinda makes people who say other nations don't respect him look stupid.
    I could go on
But I wonder what threat you think he is to our republic?

The "threats to the Republic" are those who want to rewrite the Constitution, or disregard it, or even trample it. This spectrum reaches from the Bernie/AOC/Omar wing all the way to the Hillary wing (they were going to read in some kind of right to basic minimum income into the Const). All of these people believe in the power of the state over that of the individual. And if you want to rewrite the Constitution then you dont really believe in the idea of a Republic, which is where Barry's schooner of malapropisms tumbles over.

Trump, OTOH, has taken great care to only nominate judges to all levels who are originalists and who (like me) believe the US Constitution is the greatest document ever written in terms of a system of government and individual rights.

Because of politics, I think originalists (those who say no) are more vital than ever. ANY level of "interpretation" is no longer valid. There is nothing to consider anymore. It's all politics. Sotomayor is the epitome of this.

And, thus, people who refuse to vote or vote but wont to vote for Trump because of ego or butthurt (or both at the same time) are risking the Republic itself. These are the kind of mistakes in life you do not get to "do over." There are no do-overs once the Constitution is trashed.

Correct. The ego is a massive problem with young hipsters. Their "we know what's going on" form of "progressiveness" is so pathetic. They vote for cool and not for the realities of what you said. They vote to be able to say they are for saving the planet or for dipping their hands into the money that was stolen from "the people" to take it back. They vote for a totalitiarian government because they believe in as a benevolent big brother, which is ironic because the term big brother (Janis' band) was formed during a Democrat Administration.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

True, the book "1984" was written and published during the Truman administration. But I think Orwell was inspired by the Roosevelt admin and what was happening in Europe in the 30s and 40s.

Trump didn’t transform the economy — it’s mostly the same as it was under Obama

He's on the same trend, just slightly lower, that Obama was on. Obama created more jobs in his last three years than Trump did in his first three years.

Black unemployment rate falls to a record low - CNN

Interesting that 3% more of the black population was in the workforce in 2001. Seems like the unemployment rates could be baked. Interesting. I know that was the claim from the right from 1/20/09 through 1/19/2017.

The best thing you can do is to quit thinking the MSM is actually giving you facts. An economy that's only afloat due to quantitative easing and zero interest rates isn't a real economy. The employment figures during Obama's rose due to full time employees being phased out in favor of part-timers to beat the health insurance mandate. They had to hire more part-timers to fill due to the full timers leaving the market. In other words, Obama's job market was just minimum wage, part time jobs. As an economic major the MSM putting out this trash infuriates me to no end.

You knowingly favor politicians who appoint judges whose entire philosophy is not caring about the rule of law. It basically defines them, and you're ok with that.

I was tempted to vote in the Republican primary so I could vote for somebody named Zoltan. I got to vote for a JP candidate in Nueces County named Blackie once. He turned out to be pretty good.

In the end I went ahead and voted for John Delaney for president even though he dropped out months ago. He was a moderate liberal with some legislative experience and success in business and he did not talk about taxing the rich out of existence.

I envision casting a blank ballot for president again this November.

Here is hoping Bernie outdoes George McGovern in terms of getting his azz kicked.
