Lets take nothing or no one for granted. Rice, Sacred Heart or San Diego all earned the right to be here. Sacred Heart has all my attention right now. All Gregory guarantees us is a big crowd. If the past has taught us anything its that we must play well to win. That's one of the things I really like about this group of ladies, no moment was too big or too small for them. They respected them all. Thats how you win.
Texas defeated Sacred Heart in three straight sets last night. 25-19, 25-17, and 25-19. Texas plays Rice at 8PM tonight.
Texas beat Rice in September in straight sets. 25-14 was the score of each set. I expect this match will be closer than the one in September.
Great game Ladies, very business like victory. Did yall notice that Rice hit 340% for the match? God I Love this game!! Texas Fight!
Illinois knocks Kentucky out in Round 2 so there will be no rematch in the Regional Final with the defending champions unfortunately. Illinois vs Nebraska and Texas vs Washington in the Austin regional I’d like nothing better than Texas knocking out Nebraska (and a certain former Longhorn), but it’s one match at a time. Let’s take care of Washington Conferences with multiple teams in the Sweet 16 6 B10 3 ACC 3 B12 2 PAC 12
Nothing easy about our region. We must play well to win Thursday or there will be no Saturday. One game at a time.
Commentators/Analysts on TV have talked about how difficult (“most difficult”) the Austin Regional is since the bracket came out. It seems a little less daunting with Kentucky being upset in Round 2, but it is still no cakewalk by any measure to the Final Four
The few Nebraska games I’ve watched this season Sun got very little time on the court. Honestly I don’t think it would be any different if she was still at Texas.
Definitely do not have the easiest regional, you must not follow many other teams. Two B10 teams and Washington is no joke. We got lucky with Kentucky losing, but then again, the team that beat them will be here. i never thought Lexi Sun was good enough for Texas and would agree that she would not be getting much playing time on our current roster. She does not have the arm strength or strong defensive abilities to be a 6-rotation on our team ready for an exciting weekend of volleyball at the greg
UW is definitely no pushover. They are a well balanced team. They don't hit as as high a % as Texas, but I suspect their schedule was tougher. The serving absolutely has to be on. UW has multiple players with more SA's that SE's. We have none. And their SA/set rate is almost as high as ours with a SE/set rate at almost half ours.
This. x1000! This has been the only thing that's ever bothered me about this group. If this group doesn't make it all the way, it will be because they beat themselves.
Didn't mean to imply that our regional is easy- when you are down to the sweet 16 they are all great teams. But which other regional would you trade for ours? I think you could argue Pitt regional is maybe easier than ours. Purdue has had a great season but they lost both times to Nebraska. I get it- one match at a time. Hoping for big wins this weekend in Austin!
Louisville, Pittsburgh definitely have an easier region. Maybe Wisconsin has the same or harder. With Kentucky out, ours got easier, but still could be the toughest.
We picked the worse time to have an off night. Just cant get it together. But its not over...gonna take some serious Texas Fight!
