fingers crossed ... Texas football closing the gap on Bama for 5-Star CB Denver Harris Denver Harris, North Shore, Cornerback
Mathews had a great time on his visit. Most feel he was pressured into committing to LSU. We definitely are a player here as well as for Preston.
According to IT, DE/LB Lander Barton of Salt Lake City, UT will officially visit Texas this weekend. Lander Barton, Brighton, Linebacker
Bo effin Davis aint done ... how bout a 5* Edge Rusher to add to the mix ... Texas Football Recruiting: Catching up with five-star edge Omari Abor Omari Abor, Duncanville, Edge

I would rather have 2 or 3 elite dl recruits than 7 or 8 middle of the packs. Abor would be an elite recruit however.
actually with the rule change because of portal, I think we can take more than 26 ... but nice breakdown ...
Abor is clearly elite. That said, lineman recruits can often be the most difficult to evaluate at HS level. Great OL’s like Blaylock, Brockermeyer, Sizemore, stand out and stay as stand outs. Others like Bob McKay and Leo Brooks weren’t overwhelming in HS but became AA’s (small schools-Crane and Kermit). How’s that for beating the bushes? Too much HS power makes technique unnecessary and development is retarded. Little intangibles like DE rush moves, footwork, evasion technique don’t always show in HS when they aren’t needed to excel. Coach Royal mapped feet size, width and arch to forecast how much weight could be added without losing speed and agility. “Football games are won by angry young men”. Meanness and madness don’t readily measure. Wuench got so berserk that withstanding his pregame hysteria was the hardest part of game day. Hating losing (like worse than losing one’s mother) is important. Hate it with all your fiber and shaking from it—priceless! During a game, linemen must absolutely loathe the person across from them to the point of wanting to do serious harm. Cruelty is even harder to measure, then contain. Get a half dozen, turn them loose on one another and occasionally a Selmon or Suh or McMichaels will fall out. With attrition and the transfer portal, so few recruits stay 5 years that some internal pruning ain’t so bad.
Regarding the elite recruits and numbers game. We have a lot of DL already. Guys like Abor and Perkins might create a couple of decommits. That's ok.
There is a move afoot to allow larger classes to accommodate losses to the portal. That is crucial to keep HS recruiting energized. It’s far easier to poach ‘Bamas or Clemson’s second levels than to imagine a HS kid with 50 more pounds of muscle. See K. Robinson for those jets! Saban and Jumbo and Sark can scout other teams players easily. Lot’s of great players don’t practice well and get sidetracked. That meanness/madness comes out when the other teams’ jerseys become apparent. Who wants to pound on your friends? Some hyper practice players are shunned in the locker room for ‘overdoing’ practice.
Texas football ‘trying’ to get Evan Stewart for visit vs. OK State Arch will be in town that weekend too
We have 6 underclassman TE's on the roster. Skinner is being recruited as a TE. We're fine even if we whiff on Skinner.
Texas football getting closer to flip of 3-Star OT Cam Williams? Cameron Williams, Duncanville, Offensive Tackle
