Nice exit post: suggests, at least, that reason for transfer could be academic; wants to get her graduate degree from a different institution. May or may not be so.

A few seasons ago it seemed like Missouri was about to take off. Now?

Blackwell is a 6’-0” big guard. Our biggest need is a center and back-up point guard. Never can get enough good players but we have big guard options. Maybe.

6'0" guard i.e. a "3" which IMO we definitely have a need for a more explosive player in that position... hence the recruitment of Rickea Jackson. We have some freshmen coming in next year that fit that need but they'll be inexperienced. Holle has proven to be solid there, but Blackwell is a scoring and rebounding wing player with good size. I believe she averaged 15 pts and 13 reb this year.

Exactly! And if I could have Player A for only one year or Player B for two years, I'll take Player B.

Looked at her info on Missouri WBB site. She was number 9 on ESPNW high school recruiting. Was SEC 2nd team as a sophomore. Was SEC All-Freshman Team. Is a double double machine. She’s from Missouri so home must have been a factor. Her stats/photos certainly show she is a terrific athlete with a high motor. Certainly will be highly recruited. Will be interesting who she likes.

Is that a statement that you reached out to someone (insiders?) and LSU is a threat? I mean, she's taken 4 official visits, so I'd assume all four schools are threats; otherwise, why take the visits?

As for Rickea visiting LSU while they had a game on Saturday, the same was true when she visited Tennessee and Texas; it's good to have a LIVE game for your visitor to attend as that is a great way to sell your program.

I'm no guru or have a direct line to the " inside" source.
I spend most of my time on football recruiting boards. There are insiders groups at other schools like here with Inside Texas, Orangeblood etc.. I have been glued to those insiders in relation to the Manning recruitment in football and took time out to research Jackson's recruitment. And the overall thinking is Tx or LSU.
I guess technically every school a kid visits is a "threat" but there is always one or two that are head and shoulders above the others.
Using the football template, kids prefer to have the full attention of the coaching staff on their visit. As mentioned, I don't follow basketball recruiting / transfers as much so that may not apply as much to the sport.
Football recruiting is rife with rumors, reading tea leaves, connecting the dots and just plain guessing/hoping. Nothing is a given until the paperwork is signed by the athlete. We've seen so many times that so and so school is way ahead and out of the blue an athlete signs elsewhere.
My guess is she already knows what she gets here at UT and coach Vic and wants to see other options. In any event I'm hoping for her to choose Tx.

Several of us here are on Orangebloods.com, as well. Unless I completely missed it, nobody there knows a thing or has any inside information regarding Rickea's transfer process; they have no paid-employees keeping up with women's hoops recruiting. Have no clue about other Texas premium sites.

As for recruits wanting to have the full attention of the coaching staff on their official visits, that just doesn't happen. If there are practices, coaches are teaching; recruits are watching, and maybe getting a few bits of advice from the coaches. If there are LIVE games, coaches are coaching; recruits are sitting in the stands and not having any contact with the coaches for 2-3 hours (other than maybe in the lockerroom at halftime). Recruits are taken on campus tours, and often visit with professors. And, of course, the recruits do a lot of socializing with the other team members or recruits, and spend a lot of time away from the coaches.

In no way is a recruiting visit 24-7 with the coaches whether there is a LIVE game or not.

I did not say I visited OB or any other Tx related sites in regards to Jackson.
As far as " attention" I was referring to the magnitude of the game LSU had and couldn't imagine mulkey spending any appreciable time with Jackson.

RJ knows everything she needs to know about Vic. She was recruited by him
and played a year for him. All she needed from her visit here was a feel for the school, the city and the players. In my opinion:
    UT>LSU
    Austin>Baton Rouge
    Rori>any tiger

I always liked this guy a lot when I was a kid.

On the other hand, a tiger named Mike? That's just stupid, and utterly fails at alliteration too.

Not to quibble (too much), but it also depends on the type of paperwork signed and even that's not nearly as conclusive as it once was. After getting her LOI release from Mississippi State, Esmery Martinez committed to Texas after the signing period so she signed the next best thing - a Financial Aid Agreement. 2-3 days later she was on West Virginia's roster. These days I'm not comfortable until they're in classes and practices.

Wow. Okie Lite just took a huge hit. She led them in minutes, scoring, steals, 2nd in assists and 3rd in rebounds.

Continuing the trend of Oklahoma State's best players leaving. Likely one reason (maybe a big reason) for Jim Littel's departure. New coach may be an attempt at someone who will be more relatable to young players. Still, i can't help it if the phrase "Okie Light" keeps coming to mind in connection with that hire.

West Virginia and OSU gonna be in a whole lot of trouble next season with their best players having departed. I'm sure they'll use the transfer portal, but that doesn't ensure they'll get quality players.

Four Colorado players have entered the portal but I’ve not looked to see how significant their contributions to the team were this past season was which fairly successful in the Pac12

Missouri loses their best player (Blackwell) and then their top recruit from last year’s class.

At this point does Syracuse have any players left on the roster from the 2020-2021 season?

So many of these and I’m sure I’m not seeing half but I’m trying to post Big12 and the ‘big’ ones from OOC.

Thanks. Too many to count let alone keep up with. I like your approach.

A player, especially a one year player, would have to be special for Vic to believe they could pick up the defensive intensity with little prior exposure. Of course, Kyra Lambert proved that this type of player exists, at least by mid-season, and it is possible.

I think the player in the portal who could contribute most for us is 6’4 C Rita Igbokwe from Pitt. Watched her play many times this year and she is a beast in the paint. Would love to see her in the burnt orange.

Nice catch. She would fit right in as a defensive specialist off the bench. We have enough other options on offense that would make her 6 pts/game and 22 minutes/game more acceptable. Needs to improve FT shooting.
