2025 Recruiting

This girl is legit! She’s a 6’3 OH who is the #3 overall recruit with a heavy effortless swing. Also good in the backrow with many of her comparisons coming from Plummer from Stanford.

 

Is she a walkon?

 

I imagine. I saw where one recruiting service ranked her #87 in Texas. She’s 6’-4” either opposite or MB.

 

Another recruiting service has Gaido as the #2 outside in 2025 class. So I give up. Not sure what recruiting service to believe. So she could or could not be on scholarship.

 

She could've blossomed and so both rankings could be relatively accurate, just taken at different times.

 

I’ve watched some of the FIVB U19 World Championship matches. Abby Vander Wal is the real deal.

 

I call her a mini Kathryn Plummer!

 

I’m going Thursday to watch Spears play for Prestonwood Christian against Frisco Legacy Christian. Granddaughter (freshman setter for Frisco Heritage) is off Thursday so we’re gonna go watch a game. Spears is #3 nationally. I’m hoping she shows up well. And ultimately picks Horns. I’ll give my very amateurish opinion of OH’s after.

 

See if she has family in attendance and ask if she's leaning towards Texas.

Taylor Harvey was in town this weekend. Saw that she posted the football players entering the stadium in her instagram story today. Good sign seeing that this is her 2nd visit.

Spears and Prestonwood Christian can be seen on ESPNU Friday night at 9 pm. National game with some catholic private school.

 

I think I am happiest about the libero.

 

So are the hitters Vanderwall and Spears? And Krueger the lobeto? Isn’t Gsido an OH as well? Or am I mixing classes. Someone needs to summarize now that Spears has committed.

Krueger. She's the highest ranked libero in that class.

 

So 2025 looks loaded. 2024 looks iffy. A beach volleyball setter playing beach/indoor. A DS from Waxahachie. And a L/DS from local (Austin). Anybody feel great about 2024 recruiting? Or ?

 

With the covid impacted players still having next year to play, there's a backlog of players. With all except 1 from the class of '23 recruits most likely redshirting, a "down" recruiting year was inevitable. It'd be nice to secure a more experienced MB via the transfer portal for 2024.
