Per ESPN.com News: "Starting defensive end Ronnie Perkins, running back Rhamondre Stevenson and receiver Trejan Bridges -- would also miss the CFP National Championship on Jan. 13 (8 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN App) if the No. 4 Sooners defeat the No. 1 Tigers in their semifinal game. SoonerScoop.com first reported the suspended players' identities on Wednesday." "I'm aware of the report that is out there," Riley said. "Unfortunately at this time, I cannot comment on it." Another player has also been suspended for the playoffs. The nature of the suspension has not been made public at this time. LINK: Sources: Three Sooners suspended for LSU game
Weed, it seems. Jeez. I think it's a 6 game suspension. I saw the following back and forth on a sooner board that made me laugh: Poster 1: When do we get rid of knuckleheads like this? Poster 2: Without some number of knuckleheads you don't have a program as successful as ours. They're baked in.
I’m not a “weed fan” but not sure why the NFL or CFB should care in this day and age... “Look out, that guy smokes weed! He’ll easily outrun and outhit a guy who stays clean”.....
Hate to sound like a "square", but regardless of what some state legislatures think, weed is a Schedule 1 drug, just like heroin, and is illegal in the United States according to Federal law. I think that is a good reason why the CFB and NFL should care. - Mike
Can't tell from the post if he truly thinks that way, or is merely stating that NFL and NCAA should be concerned about whether players are breaking laws. I hope it's the latter.
So is jaywalking. I wonder if Oklahoma is addressing the rampant jaywalking that’s occurring. Also against the law. Sorry Viper, done now.
Since it was my comment, I will say one last thing and I agree to drop it. I was not arguing on the merits of you think drugs are bad or not, or if marajuana should be legal. I was just stating facts, something most people don't want to hear. And no, it is not the same as jaywalking. That is a ridiculous statement. Jaywalking is not a violation of Federal law and can't put you in jail for 5 or more years. Again, just facts. Try to take a big bag of weed on an airplane, no matter what state you are in, and see what happens to you. I just think the NFL and CFB should follow the laws, all of them, no matter how popular or unpopular you think they may be. I'm done. Sorry for striking a nerve. Back to football. Go Horns! - Mike
NFL should not care IMHO and I'm an old fart. All these players deal with pain and many by using legal opioids prescribed by team doctors. Weed is WAY safer than opioids. If I couldn't control my chronic pain with other ways, I'd smoke week in a heart beat before I'd go down the opioid route. Just because it's against federal law doesn't mean the NFL has to be stupid about it. CFB is a bit different because weed is not legal anywhere at 21. But the NFL should apply some common sense. Too many of these guys come out with opioid demons they fight the rest of their lives.
Maybe these 4 knew what was coming and decided the embarrassment of suspension for weed was a lot less than the embarrassment of being on the field against LSU.
I just simply cannot let myself not post in a thread containing so much sooner misery. Lsu should have gone for 2 at the end of the half to get half a hundred In a HALF! Lol The next sooner on this board saying ou is relevant will be reminded of this embarrassment.
Really bad matchups this year for the conference. I think Texas and maybe KSU will help us break through. I believe Baylor will make a much better showing than OU and has a decent shot at winning. So far, though....ugly...and all in "primetime" telecasts
Two thoughts, 1. apparently, losing starters, plural. in the secondary DOES hurt a teams winning chances. 2. I am worried that the Big 12 will get zero bowl wins.
EXACTLY my thoughts. I only tried Maryjane, once...(what is not to like...??? except the initial coughing fit) Living in Seattle where it is legal, I always wondered if I'd start using....it's YEARS later and it only crossed my mind twice....now, I'm investigating CBD oil for aches and pains....what, say you???
