True Freshman, and Wisconsin native, Cole Selvig will get the start for the Longhorns. Look for good control, with Selvig hitting the corners of the zone with a fastball with some movement sitting around 90-93 mph, and topping off a bit higher. Multiple-pitch arsenal. Selvig will also throw some pretty good breaking stuff, including a good slider, with decent command. Smart and crafty beyond his years, command and control is the name of his game. He's much more of a Rembrandt than a Randy Johnson. IMHO, his game on the mound has a vague resemblance to that of Ace Whitehead, although Selvig brings considerably more velocity.

Showed utter complete domination in high school, and absolutely destroyed the Wisconsin American Legion League competition last Summer. All that being said, he is a TRUE FRESHMAN, so don't set your expectations unrealistically high.

I hope it works out well for Selvig on Tuesday night. But if he's not getting it done, maybe other True Freshmen with absurdly wicked "stuff" (but perhaps not as good control as Selvig) can pitch in. Guys like like Hudson Hamilton or Easton Tumis.

For maximum batting, how about Galvan or Shoos to 1B, and Thomas to 2B......?

Or Gasparino to 1B, Thomas to 2B, Cummings to OF, Shoos and Galvan = C and DH alternating games. This would be a "win now" batting lineup.

For the longer term, it would be good to develop D. Kennedy. And Jack's supposed to catch fire late in the season.

Then again, the sunglasses model might not turn out to be as good as some of us think he is. To be determined.

3 run homer surrendered. Can’t do that. Selvig may be on the development track for some time with that sort of pitching ……

    3-0 them.

Selving hung that ball belt high, these guys with less experience don't understand that they can't make those mistakes in college.

Howard comes in to pitch for us in the top of the third.

He’s been battered and fried lately. We’ll see if he can bounce back.
