nice story, eyeopener in some respects about the politics he had to overcome and about the players' academics. Hope they bring back that 747 with the seats that fit the players. And hope that our players stay on track to graduate, not just pull down a high GPA. http://www.hookem.com/story/this-is...ctations-internal-politics-in-his-first-year/
"the place is two steps above [a motel you take a gas station hooker], I’m pretty low-maintenance,” Smart said. “I wasn’t going to be there much anyway." Classic. This guy walked into a complete **** show and has handled everything beautifully. What a terrific hire.
Shaka Smart is so much more impressive than I had expected and I had pretty high expectations of him when he came in, he has exceeded my hopes for this first year in every way and I look for some pretty incredible things out of the basketball program in the next few years.
This is absolutely huge. It means Shaka has a free pass to establish relationships with every blue chip player on the U18 team for as long as he holds the position. And recruiting is all about relationships. I have serious warm fuzzies about this one. I think I even felt a Chris Matthews tingle up my leg too.
