I'm flying to Omaha (arriving 11 am Thursday) and driving to Laramie for the Wyoming game. Anything I should check out along the way. I'm going to avoid I-80 as much as I can although I don't want to drive too far out of my way. Bernard
Carhenge looks sweet. I'd love to see the ball of twine, but I've done plenty of driving in Kansas, but not so much in Nebraska. I think I might try to stay north of the border. Highway 2 out to Alliance looks awesome. Who knew Goole Street view would be way out there? Sweet. It's only about 80 miles longer that way, but surely slower than I-80 also. Bernard
swing north to mount rushmore, then devil's tower then on to laramie edit, nevermind that would be way out of the way. I thought laramie was further north
That looks awesome. I'm flying into Omaha for a number of reasons: 1. I want to get back as early as possible on Sunday for the Texans home opener v the Jets. The early flight from Omaha gets in earlier (8:12 AM) than the ealry flight from CO Springs which gets in earlier than the early flight from Denver. The last flight out of Denver to Houston (through Vegas) will get me home at 4:44 AM (done it twice) but I don't think I can get there on time with a 2:30 kickoff. 2. I like a good road trip. Flying to Omaha makes an air trip into a road trip. 3. I'm licensed to drive in 49 states but Colorado isn't one of them. Bernard
I drove from seattle to dallas via idaho, coeur d'alene. then drove over to Butte Montana. Took a southern trek towards Yellowstone where Montana and Wyoming meet. Didn't get to see the Grand Tetons just south of there. Over to Cody Wyoming, didn't stop for the Buffalo Bill center. East to Sundance and Devil's tower. NE to South Dakota to see the Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments There is scenic and cool geology to see driving through there with huge state and national parks. Then it got boring going south. Did head over to near Lincoln Nebraska to where my great grandparents emigrated to from back East. A tiny town in 1914 called Berlin Nebraska.(now called Otoh after the name change in the midst of WWI) Then south via interstate to Dallas.
