I have no issue with that. This is a big moment in the lives of these players, and they deserve the chance to be rested and ready to go. Having said that, it appears that neither team has the stuff to compete with the Longhorns.
From the ‘facing good opposing pitchers’ standpoint, our conference run has prepared our lineup very well.
The Big XII had so many MLB prospects who were starting pitchers it was ridiculous, hell K-State and WVU both had potential first rounders as their Friday starters and they finished seventh and eighth in conference.
Fairfield and Arizona State doing exactly what Texas wants burning through what’s left of each other’s staffs, Fairfield leads 9-7 in the sixth inning.
I don’t know who I want to win in that one. Just as long as the winners’ pitching staff is burned out. Looks like that’s what’s happening.
I dunno. Their nation leading staff ERA (we’re 2nd) doesn’t look so swell against ASU’s batting lineup today, or on Friday.
Fairfield wins but they used 5 pitchers in doing so and gave up 7 runs I’m not necessarily expecting a cakewalk, but I’m not too worried.
I think Pete will keep their score down pretty low. As long as our bats aren’t ice cold, I say we take them tonight. If not, we’ll have a fresh Kubichek for Monday while they’ll have to string together a bunch of relievers.
Walk after walk and we’ve got the bases loaded for Hodo. He walked a run in! 28 pitches. Looks like they’ll pull their pitcher in the first inning! Quality pitching depth. You need it here.
Crud. Trey strikes out. Wanted some more runs out of that. Horns 1-0. And Pete Hansen takes the mound. (with his 8 -1 record and 1.88 ERA)
3 up 3 down. Struck out their Star hitter Guerrero. Way to go Pete! Pete’s putting some mustard on that curve ball early on.
Yeah!!!! Kennedy to third on a bunt with an errant throw! And he scores on a bunt by Antico!!! Antico reaches. Some classic Japan-style ball by the Horns this inning.
And now Fairfield has a kid warming up in the bullpen who hasn’t pitched since little league. (just kidding—-according to the announcers, he’s pitched 6 innings this year...)
