Beef Stroganoff

    This is probably off-the wall, but I have long had a theory that this Russian dish is derived from Mongol fare.

    First of all, it is kind of a stir-fry. Next, analogous ingredients were all available to The Horde. Substitute horse meat for beef, wild onions, and mushrooms from the forests. Add some sour mare's milk and a little horse blood for color and Voila!!

    Not sure I would be willing to test the theory in a kitchen, or the dining room.

    i love me some beef stroganoff

    whats weird is i sometimes see it offered at nice italian restaurants cooked tableside. doesn't seem very italian
