so far the Big 12 sits at 2-2 in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The teams I would expect to win have won: TCU and Baylor. I was surprised that Tech gave LSU a battle. I thought LSU would run over the Lady Raiders. KSU may not be as strong as I thought they might be. They did not look very good versus Missouri. I am hoping that ISU can win versus Vanderbilt today and that OU can get by Florida tomorrow. For me, two games to keep an eye on will be OSU vs Miss. State and WVU vs A&M. I want to see how OSU handles MSU's inside game and if WVU is as good as their record indicates. Like hoopsalot mentioned in another thread, WVU looks good, but they have not really played anyone really challenging. Their best win is over Virginia Tech, currently 6-2. Hopefully, they will beat the Aggies who are 6-1 and ranked 18/21.
Thanks for the heads-up on the Tx A&M v WVU game. I'm interested in watching Chennedy Carter. Too bad she did not have much interest in Texas as she is very talented. It won't surprise me if she is awarded Freshman of the Year.
Iowa State lost to Vanderbilt by 3. 77-74. It was a good game, ISU just had some untimely turnovers at the end.
that and giving up too many offensive rebounds. Vandy made good on a lot of those second chances. Big 12 trails the SEC 2-3 after today's game.
Baylor freshman Trinity Oliver suffered an apparent knee injury in game against Kentucky on Thursday; same knee injured in high school. Looks like Baylor id down to a roster of 9 players.
that's tough. Hope it's minor and not an ACL. Just read on the Baylor board that the MRI showed a complete tear of the ACL. Guess BU will play on with nine players. Wow, one C, two Fs, and six Gs, one of them a senior, two sophs and three frosh. Really young.
Can't win the Big 12/SEC Challenge but a win by WVU will send it into a tie. Results with one game left (tonight at 7PM on ESPNU): LSU 48 Texas Tech 40 Kentucky 63 Baylor 90 Kansas State 59 Missouri 73 Alabama 67 TCU 88 Iowa State 74 Vanderbilt 77 Oklahoma State 76 Mississippi State 79 Arkansas 60 Kansas 71 Florida 80 Oklahoma 61 Texas 81 Georgia 53 still to be played tonight at 7PM on ESPNU: West Virginia Texas A&M Big 12 has 4 wins; SEC has 5 wins.
OU took it on the chin at home against Florida. We better get our first win at OU in forever in a few weeks or I will be livid.
OMG, me too. We always play OU at their place late in the conference season, when our players seem a little gassed and let up some. One reason why I'm glad we play there early this season.
well, dang, WVU is in a tight game with A&M. They would have a bit more breathing room if they could make some of those bunnies.
just checked the stats. WVU is basically playing with six and A&M with five. Both have a few others in for less than seven minutes.
geez, the WVU live stat page is awesome. everything is on the same page and easy to read-great contrast between the names/numbers and the background.
WVU hitting 43% from the field and from BTA. A&M hanging in with an extra six FTs made. Would be closer if A&M wasn't only making just over 50% from the FT line.
Even without Martin, WVU looks good. I believe Martin was expected back in November so her recovery appears to be delayed.
She is still out. She has only played in two games so far. Might be back in time for conference play. Baylor game was the fifth straight game she has missed.
I know the game was last week but I just ran into this article on the Boneyard. https://www.swishappeal.com/2017/12...vanderveer-rips-team-loss-baylor-pac-12-ncaaw I don't recall Kalani Brown having this shot in her arsenal before. I know Lauren Cox does. It will force defenders out of the paint when guarding Brown.
Brown did not attempt any 3-pointers. She did hit from the high post. The two 3-pointers and 2 free throws may have been referring to Stanford.
That's possible, TxNos. But the way it was written made me think it was referring to Brown. But the points scored does come up to Stanford's total of eight points. That's a relief. Thought our players might have to guard her out at the 3pt line.
