    It looks like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens playing days are over. Arguably two of the greatest players ever to play the game and certain Hall of Famers (steroid issues aside.)

    These future Hall of Famers retire the same season Biggio does. How does this affect his Hall of Fame vote in 5 years?

    And i am not at all questioning Biggio's worthiness for the Hall. He definitely belongs and given any other year would/should be a first ballot Hall of Famer. But talk about an unlucky year to retire.

    It could have just the opposite effect - a positive one for BGO. The HOF voters may never have a better chance to make their statement that "clean" players move to the top of the list. The only question re BGO getting into the HOF is whether or not he's a 1st balloter. Bonds & Clemens are clearly 1st balloters w/out the steroid cloud hanging above their head, but with it they may have to go thru some agonizing years of falling short on the vote.
