Texas faced Daulton Jefferies, one of the best and he was as good as advertised. He tired late and the Cal pen gave the Horns a chance. For the second time a misplayed fly ball costs Texas a game, another error led to an unearned run that made the difference in the end. The Texas pitching was solid and Johnston looked good again, the bull pen kept Cal at bay, the rest of the game. Said a miscue could be the difference in this type of game and it was.
