why the hell is the government paying actors and spending superbowl ad dollars to advertise the census? who is responsible for this?

I don't like the sinister socialist tone of some of the radio ads justifying the census so you get your fair share of funding.

So far, the Feds are spending about $300,000,000 to promote the census, including material for school children and "a traveling road show of census buses at parades and festivals".

Further, "Several ads geared toward Spanish speakers, for instance, mention that the census is confidential and that the bureau cannot divulge their immigration status." [IMG] [IMG]

They're hiring starting at $15 an hour, some places around 17-18 an hour. All you gotta do is walk to homes that are too stupid to mail in a form and ask them the questions.

The Census Bureau's cut of the stimulus package was $1B dollars. They have always had the reputation of being behind schedule and over budget.

Our company won a contract at Census in 2008 and we've had regular meetings with them. Their target is to hire 800,000 workers for the decennial census count. Past hiring history has shown them that after they train workers 2/3 of them will quit once they see what the actual work requires. So they will go out and hire 2M people and pay them through training just to have 1.2M of the workers quit.

Not an efficient use of taxpayers money but I guess it pumps money back into the economy through advertising and wages.

Brotha, what if you need help filling in all the lines? I think I better come over and check out your house and census form. Hablas usted espanol? No hay problema. I'll take care of all the Spanish too. Just give me your address, and I'll be there this afternoon. [IMG]

Gore filed a lawsuit because the population of the state of florida couldnt figure out how to punch a hole in a card. The form was too complicated they said. They expect the same people who probably dont pay their bills on time to fill out an entire census form and send it back?

This is a perfect example of government waste. The state representatives and house of representative reps should have population estimates from their districts. This should be one of their primary jobs. It would be fairly easy for them to keep running statistics on the population of their districts. For apartments, you just contact the business office for residents. There, it took me 2 seconds and I just saved the government a few billion.

Where exactly do state/house reps get their district populations? There is no way (even if they actually had that information) that they would deliberately inflate the numbers is there?

You have voting registration and polling date rolls, county housing appraisal information, department of motor vehicles, toll/bus/rail pass information, public and private school records, prison and parol records. It is virtually impossible to remain ananymous in todays information age. These people are paid a considerable some of money to represent the people in their district. They should know who lives there, their priorities, wants needs, etc. It's why we have a representative form of government. They shouldnt be able to misrepresent the numbers because its public information; however, if they were to do so, how about holding them accountable and punishing them. I imagine the threat of losing their pension would keep them straight.

Sam Adams? que? Voi a traer Dos Eqis, una cervesa Mexicana. And don't worry about the guard gate. We get by those all the time. I'll bet El Brothahorn will have a very good time, and I'll even bring my best Tequila. I'll bet I can find at least 1 or 2 undocumented spanish speaking workers in the house and 2 or 3 more outside. Oje, I like this Senor Brothahorn de la fiesta. [IMG]

How is legal citizenship not relevant if we are using these numbers for funding of federal etc programs?

This "Because BHO and company don't want to scare off future (or current) Democrat voters!" explains it, why we need to use federal dollars to count people here illegally and who are not suppose to receive entitlements meant for citizens.

I wonder if there is anyway to find out how many needy citizens are on wait lists for services while illegals receive services meant for citizens?
