Makes sense at the Real Ale Ride, I mean the canceled ride, they mentioned it would be bottled around the first of the month. Just in time for my trip to the Frio this wknd.
I was at Spec's a couple of weeks ago (the Spec's in Austin on Airport) and there was a Real Ale rep there. He said it'd be bottled soon and that Spec's (that particular location) would be getting some. I'll try and stop by tonight on my way home and will report back.
The HEB here in San Marcos is unusually well stocked with Real Ale, I suspect it's because we are so close to Blanco. I will investigate forthwith.
Would I look silly drinking a real ale, in my real ale pint glass, wearing my real ale t-shirt? My normal HEB usually has all the Real Ales. I normally dont drink on the weekdays but they have the fireman today Im getting a six.
No more stocking up on trips to San Antonio. f**k yeah, I've got to buy beer for the company volleyball game, so I'm gonna duck out early and buy out somebody's stock.
I went looking at the north lamar CM. It was nowhere to be found, but I wanted it so bad I walked around the store for like a half hour looking for signs. Then I saw a stack of pale ales with one red six pack on top. Sure enough, it had a big four on it. I think I willed it into existence. Anyway, I drank the whole thing and it was beautiful.
Bought 4 sixers last night at the HEB on Parmer and Mopac, the one at McNeil and Parmer is suppossed to get their shipment next week.
Exact same. The only problem is about every maybe eight pack you will get a slightly skunky batch. It just won't have that same bite for lack of a better term. The same thing happened when I would buy Alamo or get it on tap.
Just picked some up at HEB in Houston (Spring) b/c of this thread. Opened one up and am drinking it as I type. It is one fine Ale. Sorry to rub it in for ya'll still at work!
So there was a Real Ale rep at the Central Market in Fort Worth on Friday. They didn't have Fireman's #4, but they had Full Moon Pale Rye Ale & Rio Blanco. They were giving out samples (I've only had the Fireman's 4 before) & ended up getting a six pack of the Full Moon Pale Rye along with my Duvel. It's pretty good! The rep said they were having some issues with their bottler, so it may be a while before they get more cases out.
I just finished my first bottle. I've been waiting for this day for about 3 years. I'm so......happy!
My wife was able to snag these two beauties the day they were released. My liver thanks her! And the always cliche Real Ale in a Real Ale pint glass. I wear them around my middle like a badge of honor.
