I hate ouSUX, but Jalen is the forerunner for a reason... Big 12 stats: QUARTERBACK RATING RAT 1. Jalen Hurts, OKLA 250.2 2. Spencer Sanders, OKST 181.8 3. Sam Ehlinger, TEX 177.3 PASSING YARDS LEADERS - ALL PLAYERS RK PLAYER TEAM COMP ATT PCT YDS YDS/A TD 1 Alan Bowman, QB TTU 100 153 65.4 1003 6.6 6 2 Sam Ehlinger, QB TEX 82 112 73.2 956 8.5 11 3 Jalen Hurts, QB OKLA 49 61 80.3 880 14.4 56 2 RUSHING YARDS YDS 1. Chuba Hubbard, OKST 521 2. Jalen Hurts, OKLA 373 This is not a knock on Sam. He's a Top 3 performer so far.
UCLA’s d looked worse than Rice IMO. Hurts took the first snap and ran for about 60 yards before a defender got near him.
Who was the coach of the last two winners? (And by the way how years of head coaching experience does he have?)
You gotta be kidding on using that stat for Hurts. The best team OU has played thus far is a 1-2 Houston. The other two are 0-3 (and one is FBS)!
The New York Athletic Club loves Oklahoma. Oklahoma could play The School For The Blind 12 times in a row and the NYAC would award that joke to the ou quarterback.
In case no one has watched ESPN in the last 15 years, OU is an auxiliary member of the SEC. While Hurts numbers speak for themselves, ESPN also speak of them hourly. Anyone who watched the 2008 OU-OSU game, listened to Colt's Heisman slip into Bradford's hands play-by-play. Because his performance was "SAM-TASTIC"!!
What do you think they use early on? I said there was a reason. JMO, but Texas should have scored more on Rice than 38 through 3 quarters and we didn't. Oh we were pushing them every which way, but stats matter...scores matter. Sam hasn't had over 210 QB Rating in any one game, not avgd 250 rating for 3 games. We played LaTech and Rice. This isn't me bagging on Sam. But I'm not going to look stupid to the free world claiming any QB could have a 250 QB rating for 3 games when ours hasn't gone over 210 against two patsies.
When Riley wins a title then fine but having 2 QBs fall into his lap and now a 3rd.... no sorry Im having none of it.
That was pretty much the original point. Don't use these meaningless games for any ranking or promoting of any team or player....proves nothing. Not just referring SEC schools either; it's every P5
2003 and 22 the Heisman has turned into a beauty contest for quarterbacks. Thus the school that runs up scores regardless of opponent gain an advantage early that is very difficult to overcome by better QB's. ou, Clemson and Alabama know how to play the electors. If both teams continue to win big and the QB doesn't get hurt, it is going to come down to Tua and Hurts. Is it right - No, but that is they way it is.
Consider who is voting for the Hype$man and how many of those voters watch any, much less all the players & games. Then you have morons like Paul Hornung who vote only for a kid from their school. This year there are only two candidates - Jalen Hurts and the the kid from Clemson. Sorry, I think Tua is a distant third.
It's not a done deal imo, but the front runners make sense to me. Injuries and off games affect things over the season. I think Sam will need to run the gamet including carrying the B12 game to have a real shot.
