Will be in the market soon - Northwest area. I've hear there are construction years to avoid. Anyone have that kind of info?

it will probably depend more on the neighborhood and the builder... but i want to say the mid to late 80s was a time of shortcuts by certain builders (right around boom then bust time). i can't remember them all, but for some reason I have US Homes and Centex in my head as lacking quality. you can probably do some checking for complaints on the innerwebforums.

where in NW Houston are you looking?

    Jeevsie,

I know a good realtor in the area. I would think he could steer you clear of the problem areas.

Also, If you need any help with mortgage scenarios, let me know. I have worked with several from Hornfan's.
