Will be in the market soon - Northwest area. I've hear there are construction years to avoid. Anyone have that kind of info?
it will probably depend more on the neighborhood and the builder... but i want to say the mid to late 80s was a time of shortcuts by certain builders (right around boom then bust time). i can't remember them all, but for some reason I have US Homes and Centex in my head as lacking quality. you can probably do some checking for complaints on the innerwebforums. where in NW Houston are you looking?

Looking at a few places right now. Older, Copperfield; newer, an area w of 1960 on Eldridge; newest, Copper Lakes.
