I'll be in S.A. this weekend for my cousin's wedding, so I figure I ought to try Chris Madrid's. This will be my first visit. What should I get? Also, is La Tuna a pretty cool place?
i would go for the Macho Cheddar Cheezy. unless you don't like cheese. that or the Tostada Burger is the way to go. only had that once and don't remember how good it is compared to the Cheddar Cheezy. maybe get both and eat half of each and let someone else eat the other halves.
Chris Madrid's is closed Sundays, I think, so keep that under advisement. Never been to La Tuna but I think it's a good joint.
la tuna is a great outdoor beer joint. the bean burger is cm's claim to fame, but the standard cheddar is hard to beat.
I've only been there once. I got the Cheddar Cheezy and it was possibly the best burger I ever had in my entire life. I understand the Tostada Burger to be better than the Cheddar Cheezy so next time I go, I'm getting the Tostada. I agree with po - get one of each and eat half. Or both.
Ok. My dad and I will split a Macho Cheddar Cheezy and a Tostada Burger. Man, I need to unclog my arteries this week because they are going to be jacked up this weekend. Looking forward to it.
I made a point to stop by Chris Madrid's the last time I drove from Houston to El Paso... I realize that everyone on here has been singing their praises thus far, but I really wasn't impressed at all, especially after the hype. I guess different people have different opinions of what constitutes a "good burger." It isn't a place I'd recommend friends to go out of their way to stop at. But that's just me.
Chris Madrids makes Casino El Camino people love to talk about look like McDonalds Its really ******* good
Cheddar Cheezy! La Tuna is a cool place. But it really just consists of a bunch of picnic tables under some pecan trees and a smallish building where you buy beer. I've never been on a weekend, just after work.
This week has been perfect La Tuna weather. Try it. The La Tuna Grill next door has some good eats, too. While you're in the neighborhood, you might as well stop in at Blue Star Brewing Company (east of La Tuna just off Alamo Street in the Blue Star Arts Complex). It's the only brewpub in S.A. & has some good stuff on tap, as well as some pretty good food.
Sorry boys. I didn't make it to Chris Madrid's. Just didn't have time. Too much wedding and family activity. I suck.
so I went to this place yesterday for the first time and it was ******* awesome. Had the chedder, with the fries...real good. Could barely function the rest of the day.
