I lift weights to the Reading Rainbow theme song. Laugh if you want, but I'm telling you, man. It pumps me up.
When I ran marathons, I would sit in the car before the race tying my shoes with Van Halen's "Right Now" blasting.
I don't usually run with an ipod, but when I do my playlist has "Gonna Fly Now" (the Rocky theme: Da Na Naaa, Da Na Naaaa....) just about the time I'm starting my last mile.
Some of my favorites: AC/DC - Who Made Who The Strokes - Reptilia Paul Simon - Kodachrome (no idea why this one works) Metallica - Orion
Anything by Rage against the Machine. De La Rocha's new stuff, One Day as a Lion, is also good for working out.
Thunderstruck - AC/DC Superman March - John Williams He's a Pirate (from Pirates of th Carri bean) Any Offspring (since they are all pretty much the same song)
Historically - "Victory" by Puffy & BIG Currently - "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem Thought wouldn't get old but it did - "Breathe" by Fabolous
f**k Shop - 2 Live Crew Me So Horny - 2 Live Crew Do Wah Diddy - 2 Live Crew Dick Almighty - 2 Live Crew
Has nobody Mentioned Queen yet? Obviously theres: Another one bites the bust We are the Champions We will rock you But my favorite is Under Pressure
Gotta have: "You need a montage!" & "America F@*& YEAH!!" from Team America: World Police I listen to "America..." every AM in the shower to get rolling to work. I could run through a wall...giggling all the way to that music and to close it all out (workout et al)... "Dreams" by Van Halen...that will be the rejoinder at my funeral, unless the wife subverts my plans. Danno
