There was a motorcycle wreck in west Austin last night and the rumors flying it was Cedric Benson. Can anybody confirm this? I can’t find anything on it.
Yes, been reading about it for about 30 min now. I hope it's just some sort of mistake, but I doubt it is. One of my favorite players ever. I went to his games on his run to the state title with a buddy I was hoping every game we would attend Texas and was ecstatic when he committed. He will be greatly missed.
Appears to be confirmed via Hookem.com RIP Ced University of Texas football great and former NFL player Cedric Benson died Saturday night in a motorcycle crash in West Austin, family members and friends said early Sunday. Austin emergency officials told the American-Statesman that they are investigating the crash in the 5600 block Mount Bonnell Road after 10 p.m. Saturday and had information that Benson and a passenger were killed. Two other adults who were injured in the crash suffered non-fatal injuries. Official confirmation by the Travis County medical examiner could come later in the day Sunday. Earlier in the evening, Benson, 36, posted a photo of a BMW motorcycle on his Instagram account with the caption “My Saturday Evening.” On Sunday morning, several people were gathered at Benson’s West Austin home on West Courtyard Drive and appeared to be mourning outside on a patio. A Facebook post on Sunday morning from Benson’s relative, Dominic Benson, read, “No no no no no no God no!!!! Why him man!!!!! Not Ced man.” Mack Brown, the former Longhorns coach who recruited Benson to Texas, responded to an Instagram post, saying, “We lost a great one way too soon #RIP.”
RIP Cedric. It was obviously way too soon but you thrilled a lot of people, had a great smile and achieved things 99% of us can only dream about. You are a legend.
Yes, it was on the news this morning. He and his girlfriend were killed on 2222 apparently being t-boned by a mini van. No link to share yet.
Damn. So sad F..... I saw him at The White Horse last year and gave him the horns up and he returned the favor. Where on 2222 was this? The really curvy section between Mopac and 360 has always made me extra cautious.
I was living in Chicago when he was drafted by the Bears. Listening to talk radio, a lot of the fans thought he was a bad pick. Gave me more reason to hate the beard. RIP Cedric
