Right now, at half, we've pulled even with ManU on goal diff and 1 behind Chelsea. Mancs still have a game in hand though so keep on the pressure!

New version of Fields of Anfield Road done by Peter Hooton of The Farm and John Power of The La's to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 96 killed at Hillsborough on April 15th. The link also has some interesting videos of the production as well

It's 5:32am and I just finished watching the English "Fever Pitch" from 1997 with Colin Firth and Arsenal beating Liverpool 2-0 on May 26, 1989 at Anfield.

I've got a bit of a football addiction (although my team won 9-8 tonight in my Tuesday night 5v5/6v6 game), but I would say that the Horns (American) football team was my Arsenal. After the Rose Bowl with USC, I feel like I can kind of let go. I don't have to live and die with the team, but I still follow them and pull for them.

That being said, maybe I should go to sleep. I've spent the last two nights watching the video link above and researching Paisley, Shankly, Steve Heighway, and King Kenny Dalglish among others. This isn't helping me "grow up" I don't think.

    Ahhhhhhh................

    Good night [IMG]

    That's because he's 17 YEARS OLD!!

I'm pretty sure he ran to the nearest corner where his dad was sitting about 3 rows up on the railing to a ramp under the stadium. He hopped the railing and father and son hugged. Then they showed father back in his seat a little misty eyed.

The kid's Italian by the way.

He, Fabio and Riera were the biggest culprits yesterday. on ivanovic's goals, it looked like skrtel and Gerrard were to blame from what i remember, but the overall marking was piss poor

    3-0 next week and i would …

That's all we can do. Keep that up and we'll have a chance.

Very moving presentation of an arrangement of flowers spelling out "96" by Steve Warnock (ex-LFC) and placed behind the goal at the Kop end in remembrance of the 20th anniversary if the Hillsborough disaster. I noticed they left it there the entire match.

I'm really wondering if a gesture will be made on Tues at Chelsea.

4 days after Hillsborough back in '89, Real and Milan were playing a Champions League qtr final in Milan. 6 minutes into the match (the same time they called off the match at Hillsborough) the the ref picked up the ball and they stopped playing. A minutes silence (which Italians clap by tradition) was observed and most amazingly the Milan fans started to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" in honor of the 96 fans killed on April 15th.

If you are a new or old fan, learn about that day 20 years ago. It defined the club and English football as well. Stevie G lost a cousin that day.

Forever Young the faces of our 96

I thought I'd add the Wiki for those that are unfamiliar with the background (as basic a source as Wiki is, but I think it gives a decent background)

"The Arms of God." Liverpool fans pulling fellow Liverpool fans out of the overcrowded pen. (a pen was just that, a pen like sheep or pigs are kept in. One way in and fences stopping you from getting out. The police kept funneling fans into the lower center pen and caused the death of 96 fans. The fans on the second tier did their best to get people to safety.

The police completely mismanaged the crowd control and killed 96 people

There was a pretty negative string of posts on either Fannation or maybe BigSoccer (but I don't think so) talking about other Scousers' reactions during the tragedy. Let's just say they were less than helpful and really less than human.

It seems to have been a horrible loss, but some of their fellow fans seemed to contribute to the rescue workers struggle rather than help them.

That damned Ruskie looked like he was being "fast-forwarded" through the play on his 4th goal. About the 90th minute and he was flying. [IMG]

    Another strong showing today.

Just got that feeling deep down that the mancs are going to stumble. Not sure where but it's going to happen (Man City maybe??)
