word on the street in dallas is the owners of barcadia are in the process of opening a second location in austin. normally, a dallas bar franchising in austin might be frowned upon. but barcadia kicks ***, so hopefully it will work in austin as well. if they can duplicate what they have here, you have a winner. and actually would be a pretty good fit in austin. barcadia
That's a bit of shame (regarding Barcadia on 6th street). Barcadia would be a better fit somewhere more laid back and non-pretentious. Perhaps on Burnet Rd near the Tattoo shops, Phil's Icehouse, and Amy's Ice Cream or near Billy's on Burnet. Perhaps somewhere in South Austin - maybe on South First near Freddie's Place. Anywhere but Downtown.
6th street will not be a good fit. but i can't see the owners looking at sixth street. i would be shocked if it ended up there. it would be a bad fit there. it would be a good fit in south austin, possibly south congress, or maybe west sixth somewhere.
