My husband and I were there that night. When Robbie Ventura came to the plate, I said to my husband, "I hate that guy. I just hate him." Then he charged the mound and Nolan got him in a headlock and started whaling at his head. The crowd was going nuts! It is one of my favorite non-Longhorn memories ...
My wife & I have called Ventura "noogie" ever since. I swear we mention this once a month to this day. Classic moment in sports.
Given that there is a 25-man roster (excluding the Mgr, coaches and bat boys), I have to imagine there were 49 players in the dugouts that night silently nodding to themselves saying "Hell yeah".

Yes, a very memorable event. I have a picture of it with an autographed baseball on a plaque hanging on my wall. I wasn't there in person but watched it live on the tube.
Nolan_Ryan_Teaches_Robin_Ventura_How_Not_To_Fight_a_Baseball_Brawl Found this more complete link. And somewhere I saw a quote from Ventura that was like - "I got halfway to the mound and thought to myself, what am I doing??"
