Let's see.... They stole the land. They stole their colors from Harvard. They stole their fight song from Yale. They stole players from Texas. They stole their state song from a Broadway play. And they stole a championship that was never awarded to anyone. Yep, par for the Sooner course!
They claimed it Sooner than anyone else? Typical. OU needs to buy asterisks in quantity, so they qualify for a discount.
Another interesting thing about the OU-TX rivalry is that Texas won the first 5 games. OU finally got a win, in 1905, by pulling a typical Sooner move - rushing onto a plot of land too early. They took a 2-0 lead in the second half and their fans and players all ran onto the field celebrating their first lead over UT. The refs never were able to get them cleared off the field to restart the game so it just ended and OU was given the victory.
Stat, those refs were probably from Texas. To save someone the trouble, I will preemptively follow-up my own comment with the most logical rebuttal. "Like everyone else on the field, too."
